“Ok, but don't arrive after 10pm”

The office closes at 10pm and that's it. If you're not there by 10pm you don't get in your room. A friend of mine had this happen to him and h ended up having to pay for a room at another hotel when his flight was delayed. It seems to me that in a service business they would make allowances for this sort of common situation but apparently not.

The rooms themselves are basic. Outdated furniture and decor, but clean.

“Looks better than it is.”

To begin with, we noticed right away there was a SERIOUS drip from the bathroom faucet. The floor around the sink was sticky. The age of the motel was obvious in the thinness of the walls and in the smoke that drifted in from several people smoking right outside the rooms. The thing that impacted our night the most was the horribly uncomfortable mattress! I woke early, unable to sleep more because of an aching back.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

“For a motel, better than expected! Great Value.”

We arrived in Astoria late at night and checked around a few different places for pricing. Ended up at the lamplighter motel. The front desk lady was awesome, and cut us a deal. We were expecting the typical odd smelling old motel, but were pleasantly surprised. Room was very clean, and the bed wasn't the most uncomfortable thing ever.

Room Tip: We chose a top floor room just so we didn't have to hear people walking around above us.

“Cheap and Easy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011 via mobile

My family stayed here in August and enjoyed it. It's the old motel feeling, but the price was very cheap and our room slept 5 comfortably! The free soup at dinner was an odd touch but once we tried it we loved it.

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2011

We were in our Oregon Coast trip when we arrived to Astoria. This was by far, the best rate we found. Pretty far from downtown, that´s not an issue. You have a diner place very close to the motel.

Room Tip: Ask for the farthest rooms from the road.
