I stayed here when my daughter was visiting Jacksonville Univ. The view and area around the hotel is very pretty. I would definitely recommend a waterfront room. I expected that we would be able to walk outside our hotel and have many shops and restaurants accessible. In fact, a car was required to visit almost any establishments. The first night, my daughter was also with me. We went to the casual hotel restaurant/bar. They seemed to be unorganized. I ordered a salad with walnuts. It came with none. When I questioned that fact, I was given almonds. They were very rancid and I just returned the salad. The salad (plus my wine) was taken off the bill. The hotel staff (incl the restaurant) was very congenial and tried to be helpful. There was no complimentary coffee. There was a Starbucks on-site. There was also a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on-site. I went in for some takeout on the 2nd evening. The bar/casual area was great...very cozy/clubby, with fabulous views of the river. I ordered a salad and baked potatoe...both of which, were delicious. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and bar area. The room was nothing special, but o.k. Great views and a really comfy bed. I did have some problems with the thermostat.
