My husband and I recently stayed at the House on Cherry St during a weekend visit to Jacksonville. We are a young, married couple and brought another couple with us. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, and its' rooms are meticulously maintained. On our first night we enjoyed a gorgeous sunset on the dock overlooking the St. John's River, followed by a relaxing morning sitting in the garden. While visiting we enjoyed fantastic breakfasts and the warm and genuine hospitality of the House's owners, Victoria and Robert. The House on Cherry St is a wonderful and relaxing get-away with a sense of Southern hospitality reminiscent of Scarlett O'Hara's Tara. We were all extraordinarily pleased with our stay and look forward to our next visit!

In April, we had one of the most delightful stays we've ever had at a B&B. The proprietor, Victoria, is one of those special people that treat you like a family member from the moment she meets you. The garden, the river, the hospitality -- were the perfect ingredients to a wonderful visit to Jacksonville. I played the Grand Piano in the LR nearly every day and will find it hard to go back to my upright. We hoped to return in June, only to find out they will be closed for the summer. But we're already making plans to return when they reopen in October. Don't expect jacuzzis and cappuccino. The pleasure of staying here comes from friendliness, a relaxed atmosphere and a genuine concern for the welfare of the guest.

After reading the reviews, we really wanted to stay here. Called mid-day during the week to make a reservation and had to leave a message with the answering service. Waited 2 days for a return call but never got one. Called again. This time I told the answering service operator that I had already left a message which had never been returned. STILL go no return call. This is no way to run a business. Don't understand how this place gets such good ratings - or even how anyone manages to get a reservation!

A beautiful house with a sensational setting on the river with a neat dock to sit at and enjoy the sunrise/sunset and to relax. Victoria is a sensational host and a fascinating person, who goes above and beyond to help her guests. She is clearly a person who loves her work. Home is in the beautiful Avondale area, where we found 2 great places to eat Biscottis and Brick. We will return. Jacksonville is a suprising city often overlooked, when people think of Florida.
