“Typical stay at CI&S...excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

CI&S is never going to be mistaken for the Waldorf Astoria. But they are what they are. A nicely priced hotel with an attentive staff and a clean set of rooms.

The staff's willingness to do whatever you ask for is a great piece of the story here. Whether it is asking for more chocolate chip cookies to be made, an extra pillow or for a late check out, the staff takes care of their customers.

The morning breakfast is free, but a little dated in their presentation...but I am not one to complain about free.

The only complaint I have is about the pillows...way too soft. They look fluffy but are seemingly filled with air.

Otherwise, great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a free upgrade...if they have one they will provide it.

“Not a good nights sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

I've stayed at many Country Inn & Suites and this was the first one that I felt didn't stand up to their reputation. The road noise is horrible. Of course I didn't notice it much when we had a late check in (10pm). But we definitely heard it at 5am when all the trucks were back on the road! We were traveling with a baby and I'm unsure why they wouldn't put us on the quieter side of the hotel. Now this is definitely NOT a hotel if you are in need of anything for a baby. They do not carry cribs or pack & plays (you think that they would state that on their website). I'm glad that I had mine just in case. They offered me extra blanks to put her on the floor. Really? Also, when I asked for a high chair the next morning for the breakfast room I was told they were broken and had not been replaced. So back up to the room to get the stroller. I wasn't about to drink hot coffee with a 6mon old on my lap. The breakfast was the worst out of all the Country Inn & Suites. No yogurt as advertised. Waffles were ok. Fruit didn't look too fresh. They had sausage & biscuits, no eggs. We stayed 2 separate nights, Wed and a Sunday. Both mornings had the same breakfast. 2nd time around they ran out of creamers and wasn't offered milk for my coffee. The employee's just didn't have a great attitude. Not once was I asked how was the room at check out. Front desk attire was something to be seen at the mall, not a front desk employee. Breakfast employee lacked any emotion. Housekeepers in elevator barely gave me a smile. I'll continue to book Country Inn & Suites, just not this location. It's a shame as it's on the way to my In-laws. I'm sure we'll be able to find another location to stop off at.

Room Tip: Not baby friendly

“Good but not stellar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

First and foremost, my stay at this Country Inn & Suites was good and mostly up to par with any Country Inn & Suites that I have stayed at. However, I was taken back at how noisy the rooms on the first floor were. Not only does the hotel back up to the interstate, so you heard the constant low roar of trucks running up and down I-295 (the hotel is located in a very industrial section of Jacksonville so there were lots of trucks), we heard water running through the walls from the upper floors for most of the night. The room was comfortable and the morning breakfast was excellent (as typical for CI&S). But the noise level really detracted from our stay. I still prefer CI&S and will stay at them in the future. However, if I were to stay at this location, I would request an upper floor room that looks out over the front of the hotel and not on the interstate side.

“Great stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I was looking for a nice place the night before I had to be at the airport and I this place exceeded my expectations. The place looks like it was built recently. The best part were the windows which actually open to the nice May fresh air, and had screens.

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2011

Great employees, great room, fabulous breakfast with potatoes, eggs, omelets, wafles and real juice. We travel more than 100 nights a year in hotels and this was the best one by far. That breakfast was better than the one we had and IHOP a week ago. It's a very quiet hotel and the bed was extremely comfortable. The TV had so many stations we did not have a chance to watch them all. We would go back anytime.
