“This Hotel Saved the Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

person found this review helpful

We had booked at a motel across the street and were horrifed by the hygiene conditions we experienced there. This hotel had rooms available at the last minute. As you walked into the lobby you could practically see the floor sparkling. The staff was very accomodating and our rooms were clean and comfortable. It's 5 minutes from the Culinary Institute of America and across the street from FDR's house.

“Staying for a CIA class?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

This is my preferred lodging for classes and events at the Culinary Institute. It is close, there are restaurants within walking distance, it is clean and comfortable and the staff makes you feel so welcome every time I visit!

Room Tip: I like the second floor.

“Great proximity to the Culinary Institute of America”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

This hotel/motel is definitely aged and because smoking is allowed inside the hallways do not smell very pleasant. We had a view of the brick wall outside of our window. The daytime hotel employee was rude, but the evening one was very friendly. The breakfast was adequate for a small establishment, but there was no sense of urgency to keep the area clean after messy guests went through. They did hold our bags for us and allow us a place to change while we went to the Culinary Institute of America for a graduation as we only stayed one night.

Room Tip: If you are not a smoker make sure you state it.

Thank you for your review. We are so glad you choose to stay with us while attending a graduation at the Culinary Institute of America. We are only 5 miles north of the CIA on Rt. 9.

We do have smoking rooms at our hotel for the convenience of our smoking guests. These rooms are located all together in one section of the hotel.

Our breakfast consists of both hot and cold items. We offer each morning fruit, yogurt, bread, bagels, muffins, danish, hard boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages and waffles. Both decaf and regular coffee as well as teas and juices are available all day to our guests.

We do hope that you will choose to stay with us again on future trips to the area!

“No So Good As Last Time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We have stayed at the Quality Inn in Hyde Park in the past and enjoyed it, but this time aorund was not as good. After checking in, we walked through a small assortment of trash blowing around the entrance from the parking lot. Inside, the stairs and hallway leading to our second floor room were quite dirty.
On the plus side, the room was clean and nicely furnished, with plenty of extras: microwave, small fridge, ironing board and iron, safe, large flat-screen TV, very fast wifi. The king bed was quite comfortable and it was quiet at night. The downsides: a small bath with no vent fan, smelling a bit moldy, heavy condensation formed on the AC/heating unit and dripped on the carpet.
I went to the breakfast room for coffee soon after they opened and found an earlier guest had tracked dried mud all through the area. When we went back about 90 minutes later, it was still there, now spread around by later guests. Eggs and sausage are offered along with a good assortment: fruit, cereal, pastry and bagels, waffles, yogurt. The only problem was the eggs were gone, with an hour to go for breakfast. Most tables were sticky and in need of cleaning, but the attendant, appearing briefly, didn't seem to notice.
In all, while there seemed to be little attention to maintenance and cleaning, it was otherwise not bad for a budget motel. We would not rule out another stay here, but would probably be looking elsewhere first.

“Good location, Friendly service, average accomodation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Ive stayed a few times at this hotel, its convenient to restaurants and the historical sites in Hyde Park NY. I keep coming back there when I am in the area because its probably the best hotel/motel option in the town.
The property is not new, it shows its age. The common areas are in average condition, it can be a little packed at breakfast and you have the stairs to contend with if your on the second floor. The room was fine, nice tv, updated bed and linens. The rooms arent huge but they are perfectly fine. You may here noise from the room above as the sound insulation is not keeping up with with the excess pounds of the typical tourist these days. I am noise sensitive but still managed to sleep through it.
The breakfast is the generic stuff you would expect, and decent but not exciting.

Last, the hotel is pricey, but it is on account of its location. Keep it in mind as the hotel is simple and a basic clean place to spend the night. Be sure you hit the brewery just south of the hotel.

Room Tip: may wish to stay upstairs (second floor) to avoid hearing guests above you if your noise sensitive.

Thank you for your review. As mentioned we have a great location near FDR home and library, Culinary Institute of America, and many other historic sites. Our breakfast included several hot items including eggs, sausage, and waffles. We also have an assortment of baked goods, yogurt, and cereals.

We would appreciate the chance to host you again if ever back in the area!
