We have stayed at the Days Inn at Grants on previous trips to California. Grants is a good overnight stop on the way from Texas. The room was not much better than the nearby Motel 6, but the price for the Days Inn was considerably higher. The Days Inn did not have a swimming pool, which the Motel 6 did. Restaurants, service stations and stores are within a few blocks in either direction and convenient and easy access to I-40. Average motel, a bit overpriced.

I made a confirmed reservation at this motel prior to leaving home. I arrived at property about 6:30 p.m. the night of reservation only to be told that they had "given away" my reserved smoking room. Clerk suggested that I could stand outside and smoke because every room opened to outdoors. It was 30 degrees out with a wind chill of about 20 and snowflakes were starting to fly. I informed her that no I did not want to do that and she cancelle my reservation with a tongue in cheek "sorry". Actually, I was kind of happy this happened since lobby was dingy and dirty - can't imagine what room would look like. Went next door to the Best Western, got a smoking room for a few dollars more and had a wonderful nights sleep.

Very big room, recently renovated. The walk in rate we paid with AAA was $ 69.95 +tax. The motel advertises with single rooms for $ 44 so we expected to pay a bit less than $ 70. Nevertheless we took the room which was good as I said. No idea why the rooms in this place cost $ 70 since there's not much to do in or near Grants. It's not a tourist town and there are several other chain hotels to choose from like Best Western which turned out to be a lot cheaper when I glanced at their website.
