I visited Gettysburg with my husband and parents in November, 2011. We stayed for 3 nights. Gettysburg is an awesome destination, highly recommend it for history buffs or anyone just looking to get more insight to a war that was so signifcant to America.
ROOM
The room was an average hotel room. Our particular room had one queen bed but other rooms have accommodations for more than two people. There was a large screen television with lots of channels to choose from. A small table and two chairs completed the living space. There was a good sized area to hang all the clothes along with a very large bureau with lots of drawers. The bathroom had one sink and a normal sized shower. The bed was a little soft but more comfortable than some places I've stayed. The entire motel has free wi-fi which was really nice. At times it was slow but good for the most part.
BREAKFAST
This motel includes a continental breakfast each morning which included
-coffee, tea, juices
-english muffins, bagels, small donuts
-egg patties, sausages
-Oatmeal
-Hard boiled eggs
-Cereal (cheerios and Coco puffs when we were there)
The breakfast is not superb but was good enough. Coffee not so good but at least was availalbe all day long. We saved a lot of money by eating the breakfast each morning.
AMENITIES
This is a pretty basic hotel but there is an outdoor pool. The pool is situated right in the front of the parking lot. It was closed due to the season but it wasn't very private. By far, the biggest amenity was the FREE museum on premises. The stone building at the front of the motel is where General Lee stayed for a night while he strategized the battle at Gettysburg. The museum is small but interesting and free to motel guests. There is also a small giftshop on site as well as a restaurant called Appalachian Brewing Company (we did not eat there).
LOCATION
The location of this motel is really great. It's only a mile or so outside of Lincoln Square (which is where all the shopping and restaurants are) but it overlooks part of the battlefields. It was really cold when we were there but if the morning was a bit warmer we'd have gotten up early and walked all around...it's a really good location for walking.
SUMMARY
My family would stay here again. Great location, clean room, good service, breakfast included all make this a great choice for your Gettysburg visit. The one and only "dislike" was that there was no place to print our boarding passes. They did provide a computer for people to use but no printer. The addition of a printer would be convenient for hotel guests.
