“Great Location, Very Good Motel.”

I stayed at this motel in November 2011, and for someone who loves the battlefield like I do the location is awesome. You are literally right across the street from and next to Robert E. Lee's Headquarters site, not to mention McPhearson's Ridge, and the Railway cut, west about a 1/2 mile away. You can walk from the motel to the battlefield and beyond to your heart's content.

The motel is very clean and pleasant, with a free breakfast in the morning which is good. The staff is very helpful about touring the battlefield, about places to eat, and to shop in town. The visitor center for the battlefield is only about a mile away.

Stay here if you are going to stay in Gettyburg. At about $70.00 a night, it is a great value. I'll be staying here again when I go back to Gettysburg in March.

“Very Pleasant and extremely helpful staff”

We just spent a great weekend at the Quality Inn at Gen. Lee's Headquarters. Everyone was so nice and helpful. A special thank you to Carolyn for helping us make the most out of our Gettysburg experience. She was extremely knowledgable and gave us so much helpful information. Carolyn was also very easy to communicate with and didn't think any of our questions were trivial. Keep up the good work, Carolyn. We will definitely come back to Gen. Lee's, thanks to you !

Room Tip: We were on the Railroad Cut and found it to be a great room with a panoramic view.

“Good value, awesome location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I visited Gettysburg with my husband and parents in November, 2011. We stayed for 3 nights. Gettysburg is an awesome destination, highly recommend it for history buffs or anyone just looking to get more insight to a war that was so signifcant to America.

ROOM
The room was an average hotel room. Our particular room had one queen bed but other rooms have accommodations for more than two people. There was a large screen television with lots of channels to choose from. A small table and two chairs completed the living space. There was a good sized area to hang all the clothes along with a very large bureau with lots of drawers. The bathroom had one sink and a normal sized shower. The bed was a little soft but more comfortable than some places I've stayed. The entire motel has free wi-fi which was really nice. At times it was slow but good for the most part.

BREAKFAST
This motel includes a continental breakfast each morning which included
-coffee, tea, juices
-english muffins, bagels, small donuts
-egg patties, sausages
-Oatmeal
-Hard boiled eggs
-Cereal (cheerios and Coco puffs when we were there)

The breakfast is not superb but was good enough. Coffee not so good but at least was availalbe all day long. We saved a lot of money by eating the breakfast each morning.

AMENITIES
This is a pretty basic hotel but there is an outdoor pool. The pool is situated right in the front of the parking lot. It was closed due to the season but it wasn't very private. By far, the biggest amenity was the FREE museum on premises. The stone building at the front of the motel is where General Lee stayed for a night while he strategized the battle at Gettysburg. The museum is small but interesting and free to motel guests. There is also a small giftshop on site as well as a restaurant called Appalachian Brewing Company (we did not eat there).

LOCATION
The location of this motel is really great. It's only a mile or so outside of Lincoln Square (which is where all the shopping and restaurants are) but it overlooks part of the battlefields. It was really cold when we were there but if the morning was a bit warmer we'd have gotten up early and walked all around...it's a really good location for walking.

SUMMARY
My family would stay here again. Great location, clean room, good service, breakfast included all make this a great choice for your Gettysburg visit. The one and only "dislike" was that there was no place to print our boarding passes. They did provide a computer for people to use but no printer. The addition of a printer would be convenient for hotel guests.

“Unsure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

We stayed over one weekend recently and enjoyed our stay, great hotel but night manager on saturday night was confusing us by saying we should not have breakfast there but instead pay for one down the road, we were also told not to drive down a certain road because of some reason she was being cryptic about. That said Gettysburg is a great place to visit and General Lees HQ is great place to stay, very comfortable and warm and we did enjoy the breakfast there!

“Almost perfect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Just stayed here for four nights. It is a classic motel, and very clean and comfortable and in a quiet and beautiful location. The only reason I gave it less than five stars is that there are some quirks I don't quite understand. First, the motel has chosen to supply tiny little pillows for their guests to sleep on. I don't know why. We had a queen room that sleeps two. We had four pillows as I would have expected, except that each pillow was half the size of a normal "standard" pillow. Seriously, they are really the size of small throw pillows. Very soft, but difficult to get comfortable with. Since my husband and I are used to two pillows each, we were short about, well, two pillows. We stayed with another couple who had been here before; they brought their own pillows!!! (Did not warn us of the pillow situation in advance....but we forgave them). The other issue (fairly minor I guess) is that the shower heads were installed for very short people. I can say this because I am only 5' tall. But my husband is 6'4". He took the first shower and said he was puzzled when he stepped inside the tub to find his belly button was the only thing getting wet. The shower head was at his chest height. He tried to re-aim it for more efficient showering but quickly realized flooding the bathroom wasn't the answer. So he showered on his knees. Not ideal...but at least he was clean. Seriously this is a lovely motel in a great location (stop by the brew pub next door!)..but I don't understand the miniature pillows and shower heads. Otherwise...we'd be back.
