“First time camping in Gettysburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Campground was nice and filled up very fast on fourth of July 2011 weekend. Lots of activities and campground was close to everything in Gettysburg. Bathrooms were as clean as they were going to get with the campground packed that weekend. Only issue was that the campground seemed to be ran very strictly. Owner would come to the pool and blow whistle and tell everyone to get out. I believe the point was to ensure every child was with an adult...but it was a wee much. Same with patrolling the campground by golf cart constantly and guards at front entrance. my father in law compated it to be ran by the Gestapo. There was an RV shop on site, and coincidentally our faucet broke...but the rv shop was only only every third Sunday of a blue moon on a Leap year. By the time we caught someone there our trip was almost over and they werent unable to help. Also believe campfires were supposed to be out by 10 p.m., which was way too late when camping. Other than that, I recommend the place if traveling to Gettysburg.

“First timer...and WILL be returning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Found this place through great reviews. Took our two year old and made reservations for the tent area. Arrived late Friday 10/14 to slightly cold weather and whole lotta wind! Check in was pleasant and easy; firewood was cheap and someone met me at the shack to pickup. Although the grounds weren't labeled, it was fairly easy to navigate. We were creek-side, #20, which was flooded when we got there. Managed to set up fairly easily, met nice neighbors. Next day, more fun. Everyone was so pleasant, grounds were maintained, amenities were easily marked. Friends met up with us Saturday night and we had a blast doing the Halloween activities. Took a ghost tour in town, and felt safe leaving our tent items.

Overall a pleasant, low-key trip, where every question was answered and everything was just as described. Everyone was really pleased, and we can't wait to return. Bring your dog, it's such a fun, family-oriented atmosphere. I don't need to stay anywhere else.

Room Tip: For a quieter site (away from RVs) pick tent sites 5 through 20.

“Cottage Camping was great.”

We stayed for 8 days in the two room cottage. our overall experience was very good. The cottage was clean with all of the typical amenities of a kitchen that one might need. the mattresses however were a nightmare to sleep on. we bought foam covers for them all which made it more comfortable so I suggest others do the same. Prices on firewood were reasonable and right near the cottage we stayed in. Quiet time is respected by everyone and the staff was great about doing their rounds to check up on everything.
During the week it was very quiet and quite enjoyable, the weekend just like any other campground filled in fast. The activities they offered for the children over the weekend were fun and affordable.Nice pool just short on the evening hours. Playground for the kids was well kept.
This campground was located just at the start of the audio/CD self guided tour. With two young children we found it to be a great way for us to enjoy our history yet get them out for a couple good sprints to burn off energy. The explore and more museum is a great alternative for a rainy day with young ones.
Overall, we loved our stay at this campground and recommend it for its cleanliness, convenience and quietness.

Room Tip: stay during the week. less traffic and quieter.

“Tent Camping at Gettysburg”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

While this place is pretty and has very friendly staff other things are a problem. They have centralized trash which is fairly far from the tent sites and the only close restroom facilities are port a potties. It is a ways away to the clean restrooms and showers. Also the sinks for cleaning your dishes are also quite far from the camp sites. We enjoyed our stay but will try another campground next time.

Room Tip: Some sites are quite small so be careful when choosing a site.

“Had a good time - maiden voyage - watch out for trees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

This was our maiden voyage. We only owned our RV a couple hours before leaving for the campground. I feel this is important to mention because we do not have much to compare too. You can see my point of view but i can't speak with the experience many campers have.

With that said we had a good time. I programmed in the address to the GPS and it took us right there. The staff was friendly and helpful and seemed very caring. The store seemed well stocked but could have had more food for sale. Perhaps they had sold a lot or just dont have the demand for it.

I did enjoy a nice bowl of ice cream at reasonable price. We saw a menu where they offer some food made to order, mostly breakfast items I think.

They were nice and gave me what I thought was a pull through site. As I arrived I found a tree blocking the entrance. I had to drive around the block and back in. Then rooky as I was I only took half the spot not realizing we had both spots combined.

Had some rain and some walnuts falling on our coach but that sure wasnt the sites fault.

I saw a review from another couple that was there the same weekend. Seems both of us had cable tv problems. I am not convinced it was my fault or theirs but I have to be the first to admit the man at the office definately cared and tried to help. New coach, digital HD TV's trying to connect to analog cable. Who knows maybe i just wasnt setting something right.

Stay again, yes, it was a pretty place with nice people. Warning, may be the first coach i have owned but sure not the first big vehicle i drove and there was a lot of trees to dodge around.

I must say i read some reviews of other campgrounds and heard horror stories of noisy kids. None of that on our stay. All campers we came across were nice and friendly.
