This place is not bad, just not great. It was not far from town and Ski Liberty so that made it a good buy at the low rate.
First problem:
We booked our room well in advance (September) for a February stay in a King/Poolside room but were bumped by a large group. The manager offered to call other hotels to get us a King (only doubles available in the other section with no pool) in a hotel with an indoor pool. They were able to get us a room for the same rate at Comfort Suites, which turned out very nice, but I was still a little upset at not getting the poolside room I’d booked early. We decided to stay at the resort anyway but appreciated that they went through the trouble to get us a partial suite at the other place for the same rate.
But after that:
We enjoyed our stay. It is not really a resort in the traditional sense (more like an old hotel with two sections). All the previous reviews about the rooms looking outdated are correct. Nothing to write home about but ours was clean and the microwave/refrigerator seemed new.
The Pool:
The pool is interesting! I’ve never seen one like it. It goes from 2 feet to a quick drop to 5 feet 8! There is a steep slope in the middle – no in between. But it was nice and warm. The Jacuzzi is closed, however, which was a huge disappointment. And the bar by the pool was never open. There was a deli-type shop next to the pool area, however, so it was OK. I wish they had lounge chairs by the pool so I could have lain out there and read my book. There are tables nearby, however. The other thing is - since we were in section 2 (Eisenhower II), we had to walk a long, cold way to get to the pool. There were very drafty areas at different points throughout the hotel so make sure you put on your dry clothes to go back to your room.
All and all it wasn’t a bad trip. I might opt to stay at a nicer hotel next time, though. Or if I do stay there again, it has to be poolside.
