“Remember you're there to have fun”

I went this last weekend with my boyfriend, knowing full well that there would probably be families with kids and some parts would be more catered to a younger audience. Families bring in the most money, so it makes sense for any tourist-activity to have easier codes and such for kids (in reference to some other post).
Well.. We had a blast. Being our first time to Gettysburg it was a WONDERFUL introduction to the central area, and the businesses available there. It was nice to have a day of walking around, so we could pretend we had some form of exercise for the day, there were breaks in all the right places for a drink or a little nosh.
We had also done something similar in NYC and I have to say I enjoyed this one MUCH more. It was much more of a scavenger hunt feeling to it with actors who seemed like real people, whereas the one in Manhattan was too sprinkled with pretension to be able to really get into it as a participant. This was sooo much better in comparison!

I agree with the reviewer who said that its better if you have younger children who like deciphering a code and following maps. I felt like we were just pretty much being led back and forth around town. And it wasn't inexpensive.

“AWESOME EXPERIENCE!”

Lincolns Lost Treasure is a MUST DO when visiting Gettysburg! My 2 teen girls and I had a blast this past weekend (August 21, 2011). We were grouped together with 2 other families. We all worked together to figure out the clues and had a great time walking through the streets of Gettysburg chatting with each other making sure no one was following us. I must say this is an activity that works from all ages as long as you like to meet new people and you love to have fun. I can't wait for the next "treasure hunt"!

“What fun!”

This is a great activity for anyone! It's particularly fun if you're willing to "get into it" and join in some acting yourself. I recommend participating a part of a group--we had elementary age to college age kids in our group--because part of the fun is being in on something that the unsuspecting tourists and others around you aren't aware of. And your learn local and Civil War history, too, which will be of interest to both novices and seasoned history buffs. All in all, you'd have to work to not have fun in this adventure!

“Lots of Imaginative Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

Definitely something different as well as a great way to experience the charm of Gettysburg. The unique way the "mission" is accomplished gets everyone involved as you walk the streets searching for clues. We were all caught up in the drama, looking over our shoulders for spies! Great fun for the whole family!
