“Missing Gold Earings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

We spent the weekend here for a wedding at the highlawn pavillion (about a $15 cab ride) for a wedding and the place was really clean and tidy. Before leaving our room we placed do not disturb sign on our door knob becasue we left the Ipad out and jewlery out. Upon arrival our bed was made and the towels were changed the do not disturb sign was back inside the room. :? we found that a pair of small gold earing were missing HOWEVER - The bed was comfortable, breakfast was a little pricey for your regular continetal deal and location was cool, theres a movie theather near by and a little mall with panera bread - TGIF- dress barn and a couple of other stores, theres also a small pool and hot tub. The bathroom was clean, and overall a good stay if you forget the mishap with the earings. Will not be staying here again how ever!

“Take it or leave it.”

We stayed here with the kids for a wedding. Location is pretty good, right next to a little shopping center and grocery store.
The staff was very helpful, accommodating and friendly. Really liked the many folks at the front desk.
The hotel itself is in a bit of disrepair. The elevator button panel looked kicked in and our slider in our room wouldn't close all the way.. Not to mention the screen was destroyed and leaned up against the slider itself.

TV was a nice LCD, but for the life of me I cannot figure out the purpose of an HDTV if the hotel is going to pump junk Std definition signal to it. Looks ugly. Room had a slight odor and the cushions of the easy chair were removed to reveal old french fries, dirt and disgusting unknown contents. The cleaning staff really need to move the beds and vacuum, and remove the cushions and vacuum as well. Not just do the quick vacuum and wipe down. Its clear this place needs top to bottom cleaning and repair.

“Clean, pleasant, and a great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

One night stay passing through, and the reception was warn and welcoming, especially great after a long ride from Baltimore in some heavy traffic. Room was clean and quiet and the bed comfortable.
Breakfast, though not complimentary, was fresh and a generous layout.
And there was a beautiful 1955 New Yorker Deluxe parked out under the canopy in the morning, and everyone was havong their picture taken standing beside it- absolutely showroom mint.
I'd stay again.

“Meh.”

I generally trust Marriott and, in many ways, this hotel did not disappoint. The room was clean, well laid out, and comfortable. There were two issues that cause me to knock a couple blocks off the review.

1) The heating unit in the room went on and off and clicked all night. We found it more disturbing the first night (before we were used to it) but it was very annoying both nights. It was not so loud as to wake us up but certainly loud enough to keep us awake if we were unfortunate enough to wake on our own.

2) It was lacking in some of the cheaper simple amenities I am used to. There was a small fridge but no bottles of water or soda (I'd've been willing to pay for them, of course, had they been provided). There was no heat lamp in the bathroom, and there was no hand-held shower head. I've seen all of these in other Marriotts and I really missed them here.

In the end, if the location works for you (I was visiting friends in Montclair so it was where I needed it to be), this wasn't a terrible hotel by any means. If you don't need this particular location, look at a different Marriott.
