“Beware of Kimberly O'Neill Todd”

Probably by far one of the biggest shake downs in terms of negotiations. Basically I got one price the other day, from a regular sales rep including a discount belonging to an affinity group. Then once I spoke to her, she said because it's a wedding they can't honor any discounts and are charging for more. Let me give you an example, the only discount they'll give is a 20 doller discount if you book a block of rooms minimum 10 rooms, with 80% occupany. You'd actually get a better discount if you belonged with a company say Allstate, Bristol Myers, etc...to about 30 dollars off. I belong to one of the companies, I was honored that price, and then she said because she knew it was a wedding she's charging more. I call BS and i'm reporting to every company I can think of to get bad remarks

“large rooms, good service and location”

I've stayed at this hotel for 4 nights attending a wedding in the area. The building is friendly, built in a mock-old worldly fashion but cozy and warm.
I had a suite room, the room was huge, well furnished. I had one tv in bedroom, one in the living room. The kitchen area had all mod-cons you could ask for including hob, oven, microwave, coffee machine and big fridge. There were crockery available, pop-corn, cofee, tea, sugar, etc. There was a table that could easily sit 4 people for dinner. The hotel offers free of chage basic grocery shopping. There is a Whole Foods very close, where you can buy great food and practically cook or store anything you like in your room.
I didn't use the leisure facilities so I cannot comment on that but I could see people using the pool and the gym.
The hotel doesn't serve regular lunch or dinner. But there is delivery available from local shops.
The breakfast was plenty and a generous selection. Go early to avoid the crowds and have a great breakfast. The fireplace and sitting area at the breakfast area was great and could be used in the afternoon and at night to hang-out and sip your drink.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Negatives were that the rooms looked a little tired and old fashioned, bathrooms a little in need of a make-over or refurbishment.
I had free wi-fi internet. IT was really good and quality connection so much so I could use it for internet based phone and video calls.
I thought the price was a little on the expensive side, but on the other hand there aren't many hotels of this quality available in the area; therefore it is good for what it offers if you need to stay in this particular part of the town.
Automatic aircon ensure the room stayed the desired temperature all day.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and would go back if I have to visit the area.

Room Tip: Rooms looking towards courtyard are quieter and rooms at the far side of the hotel are larger than t...

“This Marriott is just fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My wife and I just got back from a visit to West Orange NJ. We stayed here and everything was just superb. Upon arrival we were welcomed with smiles and a willingness to get us settled in as quickly as possible. The rooms was great and very comfortable. This is expected from a Marriott and as always they delivered. My wife and I enjoyed this property and look forward to returning. I really enjoyed sitting by the fire place also the breakfast was delicious. Thanks for making our stay a pleasant one.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Excellent old-world attention. Family stayed here over Christmas and were treated with impeccable service. Rooms are very clean, luxurious, and have an interesting unconventional layout that sets the hotel apart from others. Beautiful wooden-walled lobby was decorated nicely for the holidays. Hot american buffet breakfast included in rate was comparable in quality to those I've seen in good European hotels. Highly recommend.

“Bites and rude manager”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

The morning after sleeping here, I awoke with clusters of bites around my ankles and lower leg. I immediately went to a medical facility, where they said the bites looked as though they were caused by bedbugs. I called the Residence Inn to inform them of this. I was told that the general manager was unavailable, so I asked that I be called back as soon as possible. Instead, I received a curt e-mail the following day informing me that the room had been tested and didn't have bedbugs, and suggesting that I must have been exposed to them sometime in the previous week. I replied that the only place I had stayed was definitely bug free and asked for a refund. The manager then wrote a very rude e-mail denying all responsibility and refusing any compensation. Since hotels obviously have a large number of guests passing through, having bugs would be excusable as long as they were dealt with promptly; treating customers in a rude, dismissive manner, however, is not.
As sidenotes, there was also a hair in the eggs I had there for breakfast and the hotel is overpriced for what it is.
