Hire an entire new staff. Here's the scenerio, if it will fit: Room # 148 Arrived around 7 P.M. 30 minutes after setting the heat to 90 degrees, still blowing ice cold air. Called the front desk, from my cellphone because the room phone did not work and they sent someone, who opened the unit and said, "oh, this is still set on air-conditioning. It should start to warm up soon." He also unplugged the phone from the bedroom and took it to the front room to plug it in. In the event of an emergency, I guess I'd have to use my cellphone. 30 minutes later, I call the front desk to report that the heat is still not working and was told, "it usually takes about 30 minutes." I began unpacking and noticed dead bugs in both the bedroom and front living areas and ants crawling in the bathroom. Stomped and picked all that stuff up. Left the hotel around 10:30 to pick up my husband from the airport. We came back and the room was so cold, we could see our breath in the air. My husband called and demanded another room. We were offered room #149. Not much better, but the heat and the phone worked. We moved all of our things. We were offered assistance, but moved our own things. The rooms are awful, totally unlike an Embassy Suites Hotel. The windows (sliding door) are drafty. The wooden facing (in front of the window at the ceiling) was falling down on one side. Each time we turned on the hot water at the bathroom sink, there was a loud rumble, which went on until it was turned off. The carpeting under the bed had not been vacuumed in years. I was able to see that when the drapes were open and I had to fish out my earring from under there. Saturday comes around and after breakfast, we travel out to a planned event. The breakfast was the highlight of this hotel stay. I phone twice from my cellphone to make sure that our room is cleaned. We arrive at the hotel around 9 P.M. and the room has not been cleaned. We ask for towels and those are brought to the room. Sunday we go to breakfast and ask that our room is cleaned, as the trash can is overflowing by now and there are 6 sets of towels and washcloths under the bathroom sink. We come back from breakfast and the housekeeper has made the bed up with the same damned sheets that were on there from Friday night, though the card was placed on the bed. I asked her for bed linens. She states, "I only have enough for the rooms here and I will bring some back." We knew that was bogus and we never got the clean linens. Before we leave for the game, I call to ask if we could have some linen to change our own bed. Andrew stated that he'd send someone right away. No one came. The plates that the housekeeper had cleared earlier that day were still sitting on the floor in front of the rooms along the way to our room. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever exprienced. The mulched areas along the small stream (with the 2 lonely ducks) had all kinds of waste in it. Straws, pieces of paper, spoons. This was truly a disappointing lead into my first visit to Philly.
