“Best value around, great location, free shuttle.”

This was the cheapest decent room we could find. There is a $23 parking fee, but we saw cars on the streets that were broken into, so we felt save having our car there rather than on the streets.we arrived at 4pm (check-in time) we didn't have a reservation, the reception had a long line, so i reserved online while waiting through priceline. The reception lady was corteous but she seemed aggreviated that she was alone and had to answer the phones while checking people in. There should have been 2 people there. The check- in was not very fast, and our room was not ready until 4:45pm. We requested river/ bridge view and we got it. The view was beautiful!!!! The room was nice and clean, and so was the bathroom. We used the free shuttle service it was perfect! The breakfast was really good!!! Eggs, bacon, fruit, pastries, juices and more. You can leave your car until 4pm the day of check out, so we went sightseeing and came back for the car before 4pm... you can consider the parking fee a 2 day fee. Overall it was a great value, good room, great breakfast, good location. Check out was fast!

“Not Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Stayed there for a night to go to Dave and Busters. About $125.00 with an AAA discount and parking. Not bad for Philadelphia. A 5 minute walk from D/B. They have a shuttle to take you to center city ,south street etc. You have to be a bit lucky to catch the shuttle. A cab to reading Terminal Market will run you about $10. The rooms were ok. They were clean. It can be a bit noisy at night if you have a room on the street side. Breakfast is ok. Thae standard waffles cereal juice and fruit. The staff was ok, nothing special. They do have a small bar in the hotel. It opened about a half hour late. The bartender was on a call and seemed disturbed that he had to take care of 2 or 3 people wainting for a cocktail... All and all OK sums this place up.

“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

It was my responsibility to find a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of Philadelphia historic district for our family group of 12 people over the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend. In downtown Philly, that was a tough order. The price was certainly right, but I had trepidations whether this would turn out well. We were all pleased with this hotel. It was clean. The beds were comfortable and bedding and towels were of good quality. The staff was professional, friendly, and eager to answer our questions and help with our requests. The complimentary breakfast was adeqate for the price we paid. Because it was a busy, the breakfast area was very crowded and food items ran out often. It seemed that the staff was short handed and stressed. We found the adjacent parking lot, with in-and -out privileges very convenient and the $23 price more reasonable than other downtown parking facilities that did not offer the same benefits. The hotel offered a free shuttle to downtown attractions and restaurants and some of our group did use it with happy results. Most of us chose to walk, because we enjoyed strolling through the neighborhood and because we felt very safe, even at night. We will choose the Comfort Inn Downtown Historic District again whenever we return to Philadelphia.

Room Tip: Don't pass up Reading Terminal Market for lunch.. It is a bustling bazaar with many interesting...

Saw a mouse scurry across our floor, which completely freaked me out. Took 20 minutes to check in at 8:30 PM on a Wednesday. Staff was relatively helpful, breakfast was okay, but hard to get past the mouse sighting!!
