“Business meeting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Wonderful experience made possible by entire staff from the time the doorman assists in getting your luggage to the time you leave, every employee greets you and offers assistance. Darrel from meeting services gave me his cell # so if we needed any last minute changes in a meeting room, etc. he would be available for assistance. That is service above and beyond. I can't say enough about all the employees and their friendliness and professionalism in doing their jobs, far to many names to mention. The hotel rooms and meeting rooms were clean and comfortable. I have stayed in many hotels and it is very important to have clean, comfortable rooms, but it is extra special when employees are pleasant, friendly and helpful. This hotel has it all. And although this was a business trip, I would certainly stay at this Sheraton on a vacation visit.

“Improvement from last time but still many problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

I stayed here 2 years ago and it was the worst hotel experience I've had in Philadelphia.
I come to Philly a few times a year and go wherever Priceline decides to put me.
Last time my room was so filthy I requested a room that was slightly better. This time although the room isn't clean it is passable. A Qtip on the floor. Very dusty closet shelf(my black bag turned white. Magic!)
Cleaning ladies don't show up. I left the room on two separate days for 4 hours between 11-3 and although I see them around they don't clean up.
2 of my light fixtures don't work. Sink drains very slowly and shower curtain is moldy.
Still, this is an improvement on last time!
Another annoying thing is that priceline gave me this room under the "Rittenhouse square" area of philly although this is about 25 minutes walk away. Not the hotel's fault but a bummer.
Also, if you have to come to this hotel stay away from rooms ending with 29 or 31 because they're right by the elevator and get loud

“just fine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The beds are plush and comfy. The bathroom is regular. The carpet in our room was a bit dingy but overall it was a spacious room. I called down to the front desk a few times with questions and each time the person was friendly and helpful. The pool area on the other definitley needs to be updated. It looks much better in the pictures.

Thank you for your feedback. Our Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds are so comfortable. The Pool along with our Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance has just been renovated. They look great. Friendly service is our goal always. We have just completed a big deep clean project in the hotel which included carpet care. We look forward to your return so you can enjoy our improvements.

“I never write reviews but...”

I have been to this Sheraton before in years past and It was a hotel, didn't really think anything good or bad about it. Well my husband and I recently had to make a trip back to Philly and booked at the 17th st Sheraton again because of our familiarity with its location. Ill tell you what though I was blown away. The man at the front desk Ryan ( probably the first name of a hotel employee I ever remembered!) went above and beyond. He was professional but real. As sad as it is, I have become accustomed to dealing with employees that are practically robots, they have lines of what to say and just spew it, and if you go outside of that script its like overload. This employee was so different and I can't begin to tell you how refreshing it was. My husband I went to the desk late looking for suggestions of places we could go expecting just the usual list provided by the hotel. Well Ryan was more then happy to help, he was honest about the places he has tried and could confirm were nice. He showed us some places that he heard were good in case we weren't interested in the places he would suggest, but also asked us what atmosphere we were looking for and the best places to find it. He explained the best ways to get there and the type of area it was in. It was such a great start to our stay, we didn't feel like strangers staying at some place in a city and instead like the hotel had our best interests in mind (something you just don't see anymore).
Over the next few days both my husband and I ran into him again at the desk, he asked if we were enjoying ourselves and if we needed anything. He was always professional, but as my husband talked with him he would joke and talk casually as well. We talked to a few of the other guests and we all agreed it was a pleasant surprise to have such friendly and accommodating service. When we explained to him why were were at the hotel, he even gave us some things complimentary, I doubt his manager reads this, but if so I hope that doesn't get him in trouble. We can tell through the employees, that this is a well run hotel, and a positive atmosphere to work, so I also give a lot of credit to the manager.
I didnt mean to go on such a tangent about one employee, but we truly feel it just made everything about the stay better. We loved our room, the location is right in the city center close to both inner city attractions and the museums. The area has good dinner restaurants, breakfast spots, and nice low key drinking holes.

We can't wait to go back, and we will soon. It may "just" be a Sheraton, but I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Why pay more for a room or less, to sacrifice that kind of service. To be honest this stay will surely lead us to book Sheraton even in other citys. I know I always read these ratings, so I hope someone thinking of staying here reads mine, because if you stay somewhere else I think your making a mistake.

“NO REST! NOISY”

Ugh I returned from the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel exhausted. The night that I stayed, Teenagers were partying till all hours of the night. I called the front desk about 4 times. Finally security came up to tell the teens to quiet down...but as soon as he left they were back to there screaming and laughing. I didn't get any sleep at all. In the morning I woke up to find fried chicken bones tossed on the floor by the elevator. As we checked out we told the front desk how unhappy we were...she didn't seem to care. She just pointed us to a suggestion box. I left a complaint in the box with my phone number. Never heard anything back. I will never stay at anopther Sheraton again. There are better choices in downtown Philly. Do your research.
