“Exceptional is Airport is needed!”

Had to be near the airport to pick someone up at 5 a.m. So we booked the Hampton Inn cause they said they have a free airport shuttle. When we went to the airport before, parking had been confusing, expensive and lots of walking. So we thought this would be a good alternative. Shuttle TAKES you to the airport on the 5's and 35's of every hour and the pick up at the airport is even simpler. Just call the hotel and someone will pick you up at a bus stop and take you back to the hotel. Fantastic accommodation. The Hotel is what you would expect from a Hampton Inn. Clean, spacious rooms, nice flat screen, free breakfast, snacks, helpful staff, free parking. Its what you need if you want a good nights stay with nice perks.
Nothing fancy but predictably great. It is about 10 minutes from the parts of :Phili that you would like to be in, so that is great. Not being far from the city lights!

Room Tip: Always ask for an upgrade. It can't hurt. They gave us handicapped accessible room which was mu...

“What's that smell?”

I really want to like this hotel. I really do. The staff is very courteous and always helped with what I needed. The hotel shuttle drivers were awesome to talk to. The complimentary breakfast was great. My room was large, clean and modern.

So why am I rating this hotel just "average"?

Simply put, I couldn't breathe. My room reeked like strong air freshener. Asked for another room, and the awesome guy behind the front desk gave me another one...but it stunk, too. I gave up at that point and just accepted it...but even now, a few days later, the stuff I had out in there hanging up over night smells like Glade or something.

I know a lot of people are reading this thinking "Who cares? I have air freshener and scented candles and Glade plugins in my house all the time!" And for you, this hotel will be a 5 out of 5. But for anyone with asthma or allergies to that kind of stuff, steer clear of this one.

“Not Bad for Quick One Night Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I stayed here because I was attending a college visit with my son. This Hampton Inn was fairly clean. I will say that when I opened the door to room 212 there was a black bug on the wood cabinet. I was able to kill it and saw no others. It may have hitched hiked in with a previous guest or housekeeping. The room otherwise was clean and did not smell (some hotel rooms smell dirty - this room was odorless). I did find the sleeper sofa (it was a King executive study) to be very worn and dirty looking. I did not sit on it at all - the sofa needs to be replaced big time. The lamp on the desk had no knob - I could not use it and the handle in the bath tub was not flush against the wall. The handle looked like it was previously glue but came apart again. I reported both of the damages to the front desk and they were apologetic.

Other reviews mention the loud heating/cooling system. This is all true. If you are a light sleeper the noise from the system going on and off will wake you up. I used the in-room sound machine but that did not help when it auto-turned off (it was on a 90 minute setting). I would not stay at this hotel again because of the loud heating/cooling system - lost sleep that night. If you are a hard sleeper the noise will not bother you.

Staff was nice, there was plenty of breakfast in the morning. Two kinds of omelets, make your own waffles, yogurt, cereal and several juices.

Again - this is okay for quick one nighter. No bed bugs in my room - I checked the mattress before I sat on it. The Ruby Tuesday restaurant is next door (a gate is open until 10 pm from the hotel parking lot) and there is a WAWA that is up the block within walking distance. There are other hotels that you could drive or walk to on the same road that may have their own restaurants.

If this hotel fixes the heating/cooling system noise and updates the sofas in the rooms it will be much better.

“SHORT STAY, PLEASANT SURROUNDINGS”

My adult children and I were trying to get to our different homes for Christmas and we shared a room at the Hampton Inn Phila Airport. The room was great and the desk staff very considerate to our needs. One morning I came down to use the computer. The breakfast buffet was over, but the attendant asked if would like anything to eat. I thought that was very considerate. And the shuttle driver was always visible to take you to the airport. Will stay there again.

Room Tip: Always be sure to ask for the best rate or discount you may be entitled, even as you check out. Adj...

“The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

The Good - The room was really just my taste. It was perfect. I don't know what else to say but that. The bed was very comfortable. What I loved the most was smelling the fresh sheets. I felt like I was in a laundry commercial. I could not stop smelling the fresh linens. The city view was perfect although I must say Philly skyline looks better in the day than night. Their free breakfast was really like a mini-buffet, notice I did not say continental. It was really huge, or at least larger than other hotel chain's continental breakfast. I don't eat pork and I was able to get cheese eggs. The free internet was crazy fast. Checking in and out was a breeze. The entire staff was very helpful and I would stay again.

The Bad - I arrived 2:30 (30 mins early) although check-in is 3pm. I didn't mind the room was not ready then but was bothered that it was not ready until 3:30 (30 mins late). The heater is not central based meaning you have to control it yourself and the vent was extremely loud. I opted many times to just not run it because it was just too loud to sit through.

The Ugly - After coming in one night, there were people hanging out next to the elevator and wall with no shoes on. I assume they were maybe taking a break from their room however the hotel does have a lobby for that. It was not a good site to see shoe-less guests hanging out on the wall and at the elevator. On my last night, I was awaken at 5am by rude guest who had been [--] the entire trip. After going back to sleep, I was then awaken by hammering. The hotel is renovating a little. I was also charged for local calls after being told they were free. During check-out, I told the front desk and was given not only a free room for the hammering but no charge for the local calls.
