My Wife and I took a road trip for my birthday and Devils Tower was the first destination. We travel in a truck/camper, and the morning after we arrived (we arrived late after a long drive) were greeted over morning coffee like old friends with a generosity that is unparalleled. The same generosity that makes Frank, and Juliana's (& Felipe, one of their guides this season) home feel as comfortable, if not more comfortable as your own, brings out the very best in those who stay there. Morning coffee and a quiet conversation about climbing with Frank and other guests felt like a long established tradition, and listening to the days adventures over amazing home cooked dinners was the perfect conclusion to every day. As my wife does not climb the advice on trails to hike and on finding partners to climb with greatly added to the experience. Simply put, the atmosphere fostered is one of contagious happiness. Though I did not climb with their guiding service I did have the opportunity to watch both Frank and Felipe work during my climbs, and can say that they are both highly skilled guides. Franks knowledge of the Tower is stunning. Sharing a ledge with Frank while descending from my birthday roped-solo accent of the Tower was a highlight, and I hope to return as soon as my/our schedule allows.
