“Not Secluded and Very Noisy”

We have been camping here for over 30 years. This time we were harrassed and even threatened by the camp host for having an easy up in meadow just below our campsite he said he was going to call the sheriff if we didnt move it. I would not have had a problem with this but my 80+ year old parents were with us and the shade was for them. The once quiet fishing lake is now a noisy resort with loud music screaming accross the campground from the restraunt parties accross the road. Children now play in the creek and will do it right next to you while you fish and their parents do nothing to control them. Children and families ride their bikes and skateboards up and down the narrow road in the campground. It is a wonder non have been hit yet. It really is a beautiful creek and lake its just not for enjoyable fishing and quiet camping anymore. Its a shame we loved this lake for camping every year now we will have to find some place else.

Room Tip: If you get a cabin, be prepared for the parties at the near by restraunt.

“Great location-fabulous views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

We travel frequently with another couple and last year decided to book a cabin at Convict Lake to see the fall colors.
We picked the perfect weekend as the leaves were at their peak, but unfortunately it was raining lightly. It didn't hold us back and we did 3 canyons, North Lake, Sabrina and Pine Creek. The photos opts were outstanding!
We stayed in one the the older cabins at the upper level of the facility and it was quaint and adequate. In fact it was so fun we booked another stay for fall 2011 before we checked out.
This year fall came later and the trees hadn't turned yet, but we loved the stay.
We chose a newly built one bedroom cabin with futon in living room and a tile steam shower and soaking tub. The cabin was small but worked fine for 4 adults and one dog.
It has a nice deck and BBQ. ( Bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid)

Our view was fabulous up Convict Canyon.
Deer roam all around and will eat from your hands if you are quiet and talk gently to them.

We didn't eat in the restuarant either time as it is pricey and frequently booked for weddings, but we have eaten there at other times and the food is very good for either lunch or dinner. It is fun to dine on the patio in warm weather.

I am thinking of trying it again for a winter stay. Can only imagine the snowshoeing would be great!

“Best Darn Cabin I have ever stayed in.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Stayed there for a family get away in June 2011. We were in Cabin 10 High Sierra. Nice Clean cabin great having a kitchen to cook in. We had 7 adults, 2 toddlers and an infant. That was too much for this cabin. If all 10 were adults or older it would have been fine. Great walks to the lake and around the lake. Caught some great fish out on the boat. As someone who is not into roughing it this was not a stretch for me. Next time we go back I will push for the Laurel Ridge Cabin. I give them an excellent rating as I cant imagine there is a cabin resort much nicer than this.

Room Tip: Keep in mind it may sleep the number of people you have but if maxed out you might want to think abo...

“Great fishing local and good staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

We rented a cute little cabin for a good deal for two nights and half a day boat rental for a great price. The eastern sierra local is dotted with beautiful quaking aspens in their fall colors this time of year. The resort is located right on 395, which allows access Bodie, Mono Lake, Bishop, and Manzanar Relocation Camp. The cabin is well kept with a nice size kitchen and generally well kept living quarters. The star of the show was the environment, for those who love fishing and beautiful scenery, this destination begs a two or three day trip. Boat rental and Convict Lake, located very close to the cabins, allows anyone interested in fishing an opportunity to rent a boat and a one day fishing license. For avid fishermen, on a nice calm day, I was told the the fishing is generally pretty good. It did get into the 40's at night, but that's nothing a cup of hot chocolate and a look at the night sky can't handle.

Room Tip: Sharing a four bedroom cabin between four people will defer the cost and allow everyone to do choose...

“First snow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

This is our second Fall with Convict Lake. The accomodations are very comfortable. This last visit we stayed in the BlackSpot Cabin..modestly decorated but totally functional. Don't expect a champagne greeting. The fishing wasn't so great but after the first snow of the season...really, who cared?? It was so incredibly beautiful if you enjoy nature like we do, you should really enjoy the wildlife that can be seen from your cabin...what a special treat. The fall colors were just starting to emerge. Please don't go to this location if you are going to sit in the room, this is my "man's" outing my vacation consists of more luxury. The on site restaurant is a lovely setting for a very lazy, kicked back, not in a hurry meal. We also checked out the 3 houses that they have available and they all looked to be very clean, comfortable and inviting.
