“Mediocre hotel, horrible staff.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Resort itself was OK. On plus side - good quality pillows and sheets. On 'minus' side - everything was "kinda" working- fireplace would turn on only if you would push the slider past 90, humidifier leaked all over the floor, night light's cover would fall off... Overall impression was of a decent but mismanaged property.
Why one star then? Well, one of our friends couldn't go and he paid for the lift ticket. So I asked front desk if it was refundable and they promised to check. Next morning they told me it was refundable and kept the ticket. Imagine my surprise when after the trip I talk to the group lead and find out that ticket was not refundable and that all resort management (Phil) has to say is "we are sorry, there is nothing we can do about it". Never going anywhere near this dump again!
PS Oh, and Eagle Lodge does not get nearly as much snow as other lodges because of its locaiton.

“Right there, very beautiful”

I had a good experience at Juniper Springs Hotel. Most like to be at Sunstone Lodge, but I prefer to stay close to the restaurant and Daily Grind convience store. Hotel is kept very warm and the rooms are cozy. This was a less expensive hotel compared to others and is nice to be secluded from the mountain. Traveling to the Village is a shuttle ride away. Ah! Mammoth on my mind...

Room Tip: Ski in ski out, almost... Go to Sunstone or Eagles Nest if looking for that, but will be a little mo...

“Less Expensive Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Juniper Springs has near identical accommodations to its younger sibling The Village. If you don't mind staying off at the far end of Mammoth Lakes, Juniper Springs may be a good less expensive alternative.

Mammoth Lakes has no real focal point, no real center except for the newly developed Village. In that sense you're not missing a whole lot by lodging off at the "periphery."

Actually, aside from the actual cost advantage, Juniper Springs is located right at the bottom of a ski run and it's very close to cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails as well as the lakes. The nearby ski run is pretty much for beginners and families only and the lift line is always pretty short.

The rooms are pretty much a replica of what you get at The Village (up to the overstuffed pillows).

“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

My wife and I stayed 3 nights early Nov on our 3 week vacation around usa.

Our room 424 was wonderful, the bed was very comfortable, large fridge, large microwave and all the necessary items to cook in the great kitchen.

We arrived about 5pm and the room was lovely and warm, in fact too hot, however we managed to turn the heating down and open the balcony door to let some hot air out/cold air in

The staff were very helpful in advising matters and when asked about a place to dine, the recommendation was great. We dined at Angels, highly recommended.

Our only negative comments were, the fridge made a noise, but we managed to sleep through that. The cupboard doors closed with a bang, much like a mouse trap going off. The internet kept on dropping us out and when asked about this they dvised it was to stop people from down loading movies, we got by but it was frustrating.

We advised the checkout staff about these matters and they cancelled our extra $20 accomodation charge, which was great of them

It was great to have a heated secure carpark for our car, which got covered in snow a couple of times when we were out

We would highly recommend this place to stay

Room Tip: Ask for a room on level 4 looking over the pools

“Beautiful place... quiet, relaxing.. perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Loved this hotel. stayed 1 night as part of a road trip on our way to furnace creek. the hotel is at the end of the mammouth road and is close to local ammenities. the room was large with a fully equiped kitchen, lovely comfortable bed, nice balcony, big seating area with a lovely big flat screen TV. We got take away from an italian place in the town (they delivered) and just relaxed. the weather was warm on the day we arrived, but next morning was pretty cold (56 degrees) not shorts weather as we had hoped!!! But hotel was so lovely and warm that we didnt realise!! would recommend to anyone who is looking for a home away from home. lovely hot pool, ski lift next door (not that we saw any snow!)

Room Tip: get a room overlooking the pool.. its lovely and quiet with a view of the mountains!
