“Nice 2 room suite & enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We met another group and stayed here for several days over the New Years holiday. I LOVE having the 2 room suite option, and it wasn't much more cost wise. The full kitchen is always a plus too. Our room was clean and we were satisfied upon arrival. The hotel is fairly good sized, and getting from our room to our other family member's room was a bit confusing with the layout, but it's not a complaint - just an FYI. I was appreciative that on New Year's Eve, although the parking lot was full & there was a lot of activity, noise was never a factor. The staff was gracious that night to let the kids stay in the pool past the normal closing time. The only criticisms I could think of is that one of the days, housekeeping never came to our room. We didn't call to report it since we arrived back to the room so late & we were too tired to care. One of the days there were no towels at the pool, but those things happen. I thought it was a good value as well.

Room Tip: This is a pretty large hotel, if you want to park close to the entry door closest to your room, ask...

“Lovely stay in 2 bedroom suite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We had a great stay at Homewood Suites. We rented a 2 bedroom suites for $199/night (one king bed, 2 queen bed, a full size sleep sofa) - comfortable for 2 families. The suite has a nice small kitchen/living area between the 2 bedrooms. Great and clean rooms. The layout of the hotel is a bit of a maze; it took us 10 min to get from/to the main lobby area. Kids loved the pool (though the chlorine smell is a tad high). We stayed on the weekday - so we got complimentary happy hour food - spinach/lettuce salad, string beans, buffalo wings, potato ravioli, wine/beer, juice, desserts. That was our dinner! Then the next morning, their complimentary breakfast is great too. After a day of skiing at Blue Mountain, we were very happy to stay at Homewood Suites. We wished the driving time between mountain and hotel is closer (about 20 minutes), but given the amenities and comfortness we got, it's all good.

“Great for a weekend stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Stayed over the New Year weekend as we were in town to do some skiing at Blue Mountain.

E-checked in so everything was ready when I arrived in the evening. I was surprised how long the hallways are in this Homewood Suite so try to park near one of the corner entrances to save time especially if you have lots of luggage. Otherwise they have a luggage trolley by the front desk.

We chose a one bedroom suite on the second floor. The room looked quite new and we did not have any problems. There is a king bed, flat panel TVs (with HD channels) and plenty of space. The bathroom was large but rather dark (could use a higher wattage perhaps?).

The living room was comfortable but I could hear the folks next door in the evening while I was reading. Couldn't hear anything if the tv were on. Bedroom was nice and quiet.

Since we were in town for just the weekend, we didn't bring / cook anything but did use the fridge to stock up on drinks. There are several nearby supermarkets/CVS etc if you needed stuff. There is a Starbucks within walking distance along with some other fast food stores.

There is breakfast served everyday including hot food (waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage). Oatmeal, bagels, cereal, just about everything for a quick meal. There are lots of tables and chairs so no problem finding a spot and the breakfast area was kept quite clean.

There is a small gym and indoor pool/jacuzzi. My son swam in the pool one evening but it was very very crowded that day with lots of children and adults. They supply decent towels by the pool which was nice.

We had our invoice under our door the day of checkout so we just called up the front desk and was done. If we come back to the area, I'd stay here again.

“Excellent Staff, Average Property, Terrible Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

The front desk guys were super friendly and helpful. We got lost on the way there and they patiently helped us find our way. They also had great dining selections and were so great with answering our many questions. The property is starting to look aged and worn. The furnishings were just average to begin with and now are starting to show their age. We were greeted walking into the room with the pungent smell of way too much freshener. It must have been something really bad to have to use that much. It would have been better to let the room air out before letting someone stay in it. My asthmatic son would have lasted 3 mins in the room, but he wasn't with us. We thought about changing rooms, but our room was a long hike from the front desk and we were tired so we just cranked the fan and lived with it.

The terrible thing about this hotel was the food. They had their manager's reception that I don't ever use as dinner because a favorite part of traveling is to dine out in new areas. I do go and get a drink and maybe a little salad or something light to tide me over. There was nothing here that I was able to eat. The salad was bitter green leaves with carrots or cucumbers. The chicken looked terrible, green beans tasteless and hard, and the breadsticks were like rocks. I felt so bad for the people that were using this as their dinner.

Then the breakfast was equally as bad. I don't care about the dinner, but I do expect to have a light breakfast at these places. The hash browns were like rocks, the yogurt even though the date was still good tasted sour - it must not had been refrigerated at some point, and the bagels tasted like they had been stale then microwaved, how do you screw up a bagel or yogurt? There was nothing here I could eat without gagging so I walked to the Starbucks in front of the hotel. I really was not happy. There is no one who could honestly say they liked that breakfast.

This place is inexpensive, but expect to get what you pay for and remember the room price while you are in line at Starbucks.
