We just got back from Dayton and stayed 2 nights at the Days Inn by the Wright Patterson AFB. The price was right and the location was good for us because we were going on vacation to go to the National Airforce Museum (which was amazing, by the way!!). I normally try to stay at mid range hotels, and I like to go with chains that I recognize, Like Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Quality Suites, etc. I do this because I figure that the franchise itself is sort of looking at these hotels and they have some type of standards, as low as they may be. Well, that being said I will give the good first, and then the bad. A very sweet family was managing this property. They were helpful giving me directions and they were fast and easy at check in / check out. The property was cheap and had a good location. My room (#123) was on the backside of the motel. It had a mini fridge and microwave in the room which was nice. At first glance all was well. We left and went about our day. We didn't get back to the room until late, and upon further inspection, we were not happy with our room. Based on the condition of the outside of the motel, however, I had a feeling that asking for a different room wouldn't have really helped. I actually had the feeling that I had one of the good, or at least better rooms, and it wasn't going to get much better that this. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling. It looked like the ceiling had molded and colapsed at one point and was shoddily repaired. The stainless steele tissue holder didn't have tissue in it and it was rusted really bad. Also, the plastic strip that goes on the base of the wall around the floor was half way off in the bathroom. The weird thing is that the room was really clean, and other that being in disrepair, it was fine. The bathroom was pretty much the bad spot. The room itself was small but ok. The bed was comfy and there were all of the normal cable channels. There was an aircondioner in the room and it helped slightly with the 100 degree heat, although not too much. There is a $5 deposit to use the phone, and they say there is a continental breakfast, but I didn't see it any where.
