We first went through St. Mary's a couple years ago on the way to Florida. I was totally charmed by it and intrigued by Cumberland Island. So we returned. After a little research, there really aren't many options for places to stay here, we chose Cumberland Island Inn & Suites and booked the 2 night special.
The property is older, not old, guessing maybe1970's, and the rooms have been updated not too long ago. Nothing terribly fancy but very clean and functional. The floors aren't carpeted and I've really grown to appreciate that. Don't have to wonder about what might be on the floor that you can't see, not to mention how long it's been there. Bed was comfortable, bathroom functional, again nothing special but quite adequate.
One thing to keep in mind, it's located outside the old historic waterfront area and not walking distance from it.
