My wife and I spent 3 evenings at the York River Inn, and plan to return. We were in the President's Room with a wonderful view of the York River from our balcony. Each morning started with an amazing breakfast of unique and homemade specialities, each wonderfully served and clarified (many were things I'd never enjoyed before, but hope to again) by Bill. Bill's hospitality and willingness to share his indepth knowledge of the local history is simply amazing. I eagerly encourage anyone to experience this wonderful B&B.

This was our second year that we stopped at the York River Inn B&B en route to OBX. It is such a delight, after a long drive from CT, to pull in to Yorktown B&B and be greeted by Bill. This year we chose to stay in the Pocahontas Room and we were not disappointed. Comfortable bed, quiet & we love the Toto toilet. Breakfast is delicious as well. We have made an annual friend- Bill charms us with his stories of his past. We look forward to seeing him again,

Our two night visit at the York River Inn was outstanding! Bill is the perfect host and shows his skill as a chef! The breakfasts were tasty and all were homemade! The room was comfortable with the downstairs providing a view of the river. The bridge in view from the balcony offers scenes of ships using the drawbridge to reach the Naval Station up river. The historic town of York will give you a great education of the 18th century. The town provides a free trolley to take you to sites. Eat at the Riverwalk Restaurant BUT stay at Bill Cole's B&B - York River Inn. You will not want to miss this!

Deliberatly booked a B@B so that I could meet and talk with ordinary and everyday Americans, Bill is neither ordinary or everyday. As soon as I arrived he was explaining and showing me his garden plants, his books and his home. Staying at a BB is quite different experience from a hotel and you need to want this or else the opportunity is wasted. Bill was both well informed and wanted to be involved in wide ranging conversations on a multitude of subjects about America and the world .And he is a good cook serving a selection of Virginian dishes at breakfast .
His home was charming and with a beautiful view over and across the river.My room was large, quality and had a lovely outside space. Yorktown itself is small with a good beach a few shops and restaurants,why go to Virginia Beach? stay with Bill.
