We stayed here the weekend of Oct. 21-23. We got married in Yorktown, at the Watermans Museum on that Saturday. The months preceding the big day, I worked closely with the manager, Ruth. She and I spoke frequently to make sure all of the guests were getting appropriate rooms ect. Upon arrival, she greeted us with a very warm welcome! Throughout the stay she ensured that every one of my guests were taken care of! Even on the final day, we didn't want to leave ( I think she had fun with us too ) we had such a fabulous time! From the location to the nice clean comfortable rooms, everything was perfect and cozy. Watching the sunrise and sunset was spectacular! The restaurant down stairs has amazing delicious breakfast, now it took a little while to get it, but they fix everything fresh! It was Sooo good! I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!! We will be back for sure!! Again, Ruth thank you so much for going above and beyond!

When I called for my reservation I was reserving a room for a wedding I would be attending. The women I spoke with on the phone was not very friendly and seemed very un-accomodating. However once I arrived at the duke of york the young man at the lobby desk was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are outdated and beds kind of uncomfortable but the view was beautiful. Overall if we had to spend more time in the rooms I might rate it an average rating but because of the friendly service and nice view I will give it a very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Duke of York while visiting our son at the US Coast Guard Training Center. We do alot of traveling along the east coast of the US and the atmosphere at The Duke of York was in keeping with an appreciation of the spirit of America, a welcomed change from the sterile chain hotels. Our room was lovely, very clean and very comfortable and the staff was personable. The hotel was filled with guests but it was very quiet. We had a spectacular view of the York River (all rooms do) and when we weren't relaxing in our room or sitting on our balcony enjoying the sights, we went right across the street and enjoyed walking, sight seeing, shopping and dining in a friendly, historical and beautiful setting (all without getting in our car!) They have a charming restaurant. Although we didn't take advantage of their dinner menu we enjoyed delicious breakfasts. The location and value of this hotel is very amazing. We highly recommend The Duke of York and we cannot wait to return in December.

The rooms were very clean. A little "dated" but otherwise nice. The private balcony made for a nice extra touch. Had it not been pouring rain it would have been perfect for coffee in the morning. The beach, the dock, shops and pub just a few steps away make for a perfect weekend getaway.
