“o.k. room for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2010

The room with a king bed that I stayed in was clean, and in fairly good shape. the bed was comfortable. We got a very good rate which made it a good value. The common areas are a bit dirty and run down. THe breakfast was not worth the effort, we went to burger king instead. The pool was closed and it looked like they have a problem with that whole area, which I did not care about because I did not wish to use it.

“A terrible place to stop - nasty!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2009

Super8 really needs to look at this franchise. The location is OK - just off the Interstate but the building, rooms, etc. need a complete make-over. The lobby is decorated in mid-80's furniture (which haven't been cleaned since then). The pool is right next to the lobby - but the sign says "sorry for the 'inconviencity' the pool is closed". (And apparently has been for the past month.) The stairs leading to the second floor were flithy - we should've turned right around and asked for our money back.

The manager (who lives on-site) could be the former owner of the Bates Motel. He is from India and is extremely hard to understand, and has a hard time understanding the customer. We waited patiently while another patron tried to get his bill straightened out since he was leaving very early the next morning. Then, the manager insisted we didn't have a reservation. Again, should've taken the cue and gone to the Holiday Inn Express (new) across the road.

The room itself wasn't bad. It just hadn't been redecorated in quite some time, but it had some amenities you don't normally find in a budget motel; i.e., a hair dyer, iron and board, recliner, etc.

Be afraid, be very afraid when going to the included breakfast. It was truly disgusting. We only stepped inside the room - two selections of cold cereal, some pastries, and a dirty rag on the coffee maker turned our stomachs. The manager so we could complain? No where to be seen. Just like a previous poster said, just a basket for your card key.

Would we stay here again? No way! There are plenty of other choices in Willcox!

“Taj Mahal It's NOT”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2008

We usually have good luck with Super 8, but this one was a disappointment from the arrival. The desk clerk was surly, the carpet in the room was GUMMY from dirty feet, the breakfast bar was sub-par (although we did eat it), and the bathroom fan rattled loudly.

Gotta be better options after hiking Chiracahua.

“Do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2007

This is an overpriced motel, with unfriendly hostile staff, and poor amenities. We requested a first floor room because there is no elevator and my wife has a sore knee, but were told they were "all rented out". We later learned that only eight rooms in the entire motel were occupied the night we stayed. The owner of the motel is apparently trying to run the place on the cheap. The room towels were extremely small, thin, and foul-smelling. I had to use two of them to dry myself after a shower. The continental "Super Start" breakfast is a joke--- some thin-sliced bread, watered down juice, fruit loops, and some bad tasting coffee. I would not stay here again.

“Gloomy, dated. Free breakfast is pitiful.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2006

This hotel rates OK on cleanliness, but after staying once I did not go back. The rooms look like nursing home or hospital rooms, with dated teal green and mauve wallpaper borders and horribly tacky bedspreads,. Blankets are bubblegum-pink, pilled and old. The rooms are terribly dark. My room had blackout curtains with no sheer ones underneath, so it was either blinding sunlight or dark gloom - no in between.

I've seen all kinds of free continental breakfasts, but this one wins the prize for the most pitiful. For juice, there was a tupperware pitcher of juice made from frozen concentrate in a little refrigerator. For the small number of guests eating breakfast, one would think it would not cost much to buy provide a carton or even individual containers of juice so we would not feel like we were taking stuff out of some poor family's personal refrigerator. The only "breakfast" provided was a tray with about 8 or 10 day-old plain donuts and 2 loaves of cheap bread set next to a toaster. One loaf of bread had mold on it!! Yuck!!

The staff is evidently a family that lives on the premises

If you have kids the right age, the pool is probably a good thing. There's not much else this place has to offer. Someone would do well to buy the motel, remodel the rooms, patch the holes in the hallway walls and ceilings, and either spruce up breakfast or not serve it at all.Moldy bread and reconstituted OJ just does not start the day out quite right!
