“Older but clean and comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Stayed a couple days at this hotel. Older style with exterior doors. Nothing fancy but very clean with a friendly staff. At a budget hotel the mattresses often are budget as well, but not the case here. It is quite close to I-10 so ask for a room away from the highway for a quieter night. Of course, it is also close to the airport, but El Paso's airport is not as busy as Atlanta's!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from I-10

“Nice refuge for the weary traveler”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

My wife and I made a quick overnight stop in El Paso in June 2011 with no reservation. Being familiar with El Paso we picked this motel for its location. It's old and not very large, so we figured the rates were good--they were, very. It has become an inexpensive place for soldiers (Ft. Bliss is in El Paso). It is on Interstate 10, but we were not bothered that night by traffic noise. The room was modest, but clean, and was just what we needed. The breakfast was not opulent, but fresh and tasty. With an early departure we didn't require anything more. The eating area was quiet and peaceful. The gentleman who checked us in was very gracious and efficient. El Paso is right on the border, and this hotel has a night security office who prowls continuously, and we felt perfectly safe, both for ourselves and for our vehicle. Many restaurants are nearby. Access to the hotel is easy. For a weeklong stay with a lot of hotel time I would look elsewhere, but for an overnight stop, this was just fine, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again under the same circumstances.

Room Tip: The second floor is usually a good bet.

“Old Old El Paso”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

I had the opportunity to travel with my father and his friend for the weekend to El Paso, Texas. The moniker "Old El Paso" is embodied in this La Quinta Property. The hotel is situated right off I-10 close to the airport and not far from the Port of Entry to Juarez Mexico.

The property boast the lastest updated colors for the La Quinta re-branding but the interior rooms are sorely lacking. The bedding is not the updated white turned down linens and upgraded decor. The doors are filthy, worn, dented, and needed a good scrubbing. The carpet in rooms 105, 108, and 110 were all worn and stained. Room 108 had a distinctly 'herbal' smoke odor when you first opened the door. Room #108 had a big dead cockroach on the floor and several other decease bugs in the bathroom. The hotel was sold out so moving rooms was not possible according to the hotel manager on duty.

Two of our three rooms were not serviced even though there were no 'do not disturb' signs hung. I was able to obtain a few wash cloths and clean towels after going to the front desk. The breakfast room was tiny and packed. It was hard to negotiate with a cup of coffee in your hand with the number of people packed in for the free continental breakfast. We gave up the fight for the donuts and coffee and walked across the lot to Denny's.

I contacted the management while I was there but the fact that the hotel was sold out did not allow for my room to be changed. The front desk was apologetic but not able to assist.

The hotel is in a pretty rough part of town. I got up early to walk my dog and there were a couple of potentially homeless or purposely disheveled looking men in the parking lot walking around. I did not see any guards or hotel security on site.

Choose elsewhere if you have a choice.

Room Tip: Any where but this location of La Quinta

“Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

This was our hosting hotel for our baseball team, Kansas City T-Bones. This hotel has great accommodations and minutes from most attractions in El Paso. We really enjoyed staying at this hotel and would reccommend it to others. I hope we are staying at this location again for our next season. Our bus broke down and the General Manager took the inititive and providing transportation to and from the ballpark herself. WOW. That is service. The front desk staff was very helpful and knowledgable.

“Probably wont come back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

This property is beside a busy expressway in an area that`s not the greatest. Cars were coming and going through the night and you have to ask why? There really is nothing around there. I found burnt out lamps in the room and a long hair in the bathtub.
