“Great Location for UTEP and Sun Bowl”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Easy walking distance to the Sun Bowl stadium. Plenty of restaurants from fast food to ethnic, bbq, etc in the neighborhood. Located on corner of an entrance to the campus. Close by the free hotel shuttle to convention center and downtown businesses. Free Airport shuttle. Hotel is typical very nice HGI, clean modern, with all the amenities we expect from HGI. Helpful friendly staff from shuttle drivers, to wait staff and front desk team.

“Good place close to campus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

Good, one night stay for a meeting on campus. Was able to check in at 11am, good room and excellent breakfast in the morning. The breakfast is advertised as $12, but you can get a $8 version without eggs and bacon.
Overpriced for the city it's in!
Would stay here again.

“No breakfast, no fresh air.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

I stayed for 4 nights on business.
The windows don't open, so no fresh air. The knob on the iron was broken. The in-room coffee was horrifying. Some rooms can be booked with a "room plus breakfast" rate. I asked if I could have that rate and was told "no." A colleague called after me and was allowed to have the breakfast included. Not sure what that was about. The desk clerk was quite unhelpful.
On the positive side, the bed linens were pretty good, the room was clean and the location is good--close to UTEP, lots of restaurants, and not too far from the freeway. Also, there is a nice neighborhood and hiking trails to run on just across Mesa Blvd from the hotel.

Room Tip: ask for the room rate that includes breakfast

“Everything you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

I stayed here for four nights during a conference at the University of Texas at El Paso. It's just on the edge of the university grounds and easily walkable. I found it very comfortable and affordable. The breakfast buffet was great and the staff were always so friendly.

For example I had a few free hours and wanted to do some shopping, so asked the front desk about a mall. She made a recommendation and when I asked how much a taxi might be, she suggested that the shuttle driver might just drop me off on his way? He did. Not part of his job, but saved me $20 in a taxi.

I only had the breakfast and never had any other meals or ordered off the menu. The buffet was either a hot buffet or a continental. I never had the hot food as the continental (cold items & fruit) was always plenty for me.

“Decent Property, Average Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

As a Hilton Diamond member I have become accustomed to a higher level of service. That service was certainly not present at this property. I liked the location and the room but the front desk treated me like "just another guest." When I asked for a restaurant recommendation they guided me to a hamburger joint. I am not Donald Trump but I do take pride in my travel choices.

I have been very loyal to Hilton brands for many years but that is about to change. May I suggest you look into the new Holiday Inn Express Suites? The newly constructed facilities are awesome! And Holiday Inn actually appreciates your business. They treat you like a king -- regardless of your member status -- and their new buildings will blow you away.

Room Tip: Good luck. I'm Diamond and could not get an upgrade.
