This Microtel Inn seems fairly new, so is clean and well appointed. I had stayed at a Microtel previously so was aware of their business model. We chose this Inn because of its proximity to our relative's home. The front desk staff was comprised of spacey kids who tended not to stay at their post. The free WiFi was unreliable. Our bathroom door had a broken striker, the toilet leaked and the fiberglass tub surround had a hole knocked through it. Bed and climate control were perfect. Our stay was uneventful until the last night. The fire alarm went off at 4:00 AM and we had to evacuate to the lobby. We received no direction from the staff. They couldn't turn off the alarm. We evacuated outside (~35 f.) because the alarm was deafening. Fire department didn't arrive after a wait of 25 minutes so we called 911 on our cell phone. Seems Microtel's alarm doesn't notify the fire dept. It took about 1.5 hours to get the chaos under control. The assembled crowd was very unhappy. Upon checkout, the Manager was defensive and making excuses. Conclusion: Low priced motel run by incompetents.
