I would also recommend it for a weekend/leisure stay as well, since it's so close to, well, everything. This was my 3rd or 4th overnight at the Wingate and I have yet to have anything go amiss. The rooms are spotless and large, it's quiet (even on the ground floor!), the beds are very comfortable, the bath towels are large and fluffy and the in-room coffee is drinkable. The big, flat-screen TV has an excellent picture, the Wi-Fi access is a no-brainer. The staff has always been extremely pleasant. My only complaint - more protein options at breakfast. The carb choices are many and varied, but for protein, only scrambled eggs and bacon. Not that I went away hungry - I like eggs. That's just the only semi-negative I could scare up.
The location is perfect. Close to I-630, West LR shopping/dining & minutes from downtown - yes, even in rush hour, it doesn't take *that* long. I have not used the pool, gym or any other amenities, so can't offer an opinion about them. My company books and pays, so I can't comment on the price either, but I assume it's reasonable or I would be sent elsewhere.
The parking lot is well-lit and is only accessible from the single entry/exit to Shackleford. I didn't feel unsafe at any point coming or going alone. Good job Wingate!
