“Very Very Disapointing”

We booked at the hotel for the 29th December 2011.

Upon arriving at the hotel we were impressed by the doorman and the lobby and checking in was easy and uneventful.

So what was the problem just beware see below:

The conciege service are rude unhelpful and a rip off (when i questioned a price for justification the servive agent replied I don't know what you can get it for but thats my price). The guy who in front of me wanted to borrow a sheet from the book to show his family sitting next to the desk was told get them to come up here.

When going out of the hotel leave 10 minutes earlier as that is how long it will take you to get a lift.

Baware of the bathroom the water is brown and stinks of extrement, I didn't shower whilst i was there it was horrendous.

On a good note the doorman and bell staff could not be more helpful, if you are looking for help ask them they are the best option.

We would not stay there again

“Small rooms with little/no AC”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I have stayed in this hotel twice (not by my choice) and each time it is the same problem. There is no AC in the hallways and the rooms do not have control of their AC. Often it is cooler outside than in the room and thus you have to leave the windows open all of the time. The rooms are very small and you can touch opposite walls if you extend your arms. They allow the Pakistanis to smoke despite smoking not being allowed in the hotel. This is most likely because the "Pakistani interests" own a share of the hotel. I would never stay here if I had a choice.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your most recent visit. The Hotel is currently a non-smoking hotel. Should ANY guest decide to smoke in their room, there is a fee charged to their bill. This fee covers the cost of removing the room from inventory to be deep cleaned including carpets, drapes, soft goods, and bedding.

“Roosevelt Hotel NYC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

With the many options for midtown Manhattan, I wouldn't pick this hotel again. The rooms are very dated, and the bathrooms tiny. The heat was on all night, way to hot, and you couldn't shut if off. It's a beautiful old building, but needs an update. For the price you can do much better at other locations.

Thank you for your comments. The Roosevelt Hotel is in the mist of a multi-million dollar room renovation which is due to be completed by March 1, 2012. I do hope you will consider the Roosevelt Hotel in the future.

“Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Check-in was easy and the staff were really helpful. We had one of the refurbished rooms which was lovely. The bathroom was a bit dated, but hey, its a bathroom and everything worked perfectly fine!

Its in a central location with the Empire State Building & NY Public Library around the corner. Times Square was about 5 minutes walk. Central Park - 15 minutes walk. Grand Central station, around the corner!!! Perfect!

We had a late flight, and check out is at 12pm and didnt want to drag our bags around NYC all day, so we asked if there was anywhere we could leave our cases, and the hotel put our cases in locked room until we were ready to leave. Again Perfect!

The only advise i'd give is if you particulary like your more cup of tea, i would take a travel kettle and tea bags! We were 'room only' so if we wanted a cup of tea, we had to go down to that bar, and they charged $9.50 for two cups!

“Disappointing Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012
1
person found this review helpful

This is the 3rd time my husband and I have stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel, its in a great location, has a wonderful bar/lobby area, however on this occasion our delux room was extremely disappointing. The bathroom was tired and shabby, the shelf to stand your toiletries on was insufficient and unsteady, the air conditioning unit in the room was virtually unuseable, we reported that the heat in the room was overbearing and this was sorted out. However I did ask to be moved to another room but this could not be accommodated due to the hotel being full. I understand that the hotel is in the middle of refurbishment and has to keep running, however should it not be offering some sort of discounted rates for the tired/worn out rooms? I shall not be staying here on our next visit and won't recommend the hotel to anyone else. The barmen as always were very good, especially Homero.

Room Tip: Request a corner room and a newly refurbished one.
