“Not Bad, But Seen Better”

I stayed in CICPW in November 2011 for roughly one week (split by spending a couple of days in Washington DC). My biggest compliment goes to the staff, who are very cheery and helpful, and I often had a great conversation with them after heading back from a day of touring and a good dinner.

The rooms are OK, but they are relatively small. I got two separate rooms due to splitting the duration of the stay, and the first room was better than the second one. However, I didn't travel to NYC to spend my time in hotel rooms, so I slept, looked at some emails, washed, had breakfast, then went out for the day, so CICPW served it's purpose.

The wifi is quite strong throughout the hotel, and my phone & laptop didn't have any outages that I recall when in wifi range.

The location is pretty good - about 2-3 minutes walk from the 72nd St Subway stop.

The breakfast is a buffet, not something I am a fan of, so I stuck to packeted cereal and juice. I prefer they offer you the meal with the room, but you can pick from a menu what you want and the chef prepares it.

Overall, I would say that I would consider staying at CICPW again when I return to NYC, although I might be tempted to spend a little more money per night for something a little bit more spacious & luxurious.

Room Tip: I tried two separate ones, the first one was on level three & was a little more modern than the...

“Couldn't Pay Me to Stay There Again!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

The hotel felt old, very narrow, and very small(even the elevator). I booked a room online that was supposed to be a smoking room. The room wound up being a non-smoking room, which wasn't so bad, until we opened the door to the room. The room was extremely small. The entire room was a king size bed, a small table, and an EXTREMELY SMALL BATHROOM. The carpeting was ripped in places and looked dirty. The bedspread was an old blanket. The bed had five pillows that were supposed to be white. Two of them looked yellow. The room was hot. We turned on the air conditioner and it never cooled the room. Our TV was broken so we couldn't use the channel guide, nor select a movie from pay-per-view. The hotel promised a "hot breakfast" which consisted of white bread and untoasted english muffins which you had to toast yourself and waffle mix. ? The kitchen or "cafe" was small, cramped, and dirty. I have NEVER written a bad review in my life but hope this will help at least one person decide NOT to book this hotel. The location was nice and that is what you're paying your money for - nothing else! The online advertisement boasts a "European" style hotel. If that's what most hotels are like in Europe, then I never want to visit! I beg you not to pay anything for this hotel and consider booking elsewhere and taking a cab to get to your next day destination! The Comfort-Inn franchaise should be embarrassed of this hotel!

“My home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This lovely little hotel nestled in a residential area is one of NY's best kept secrets. Many of the locals do not know it's there. I have been staying here since the late 90's and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. It is a stone's throw away from Central Park on the upper West Side. It's location is fantastic but it is the warmth and the comfortable feeling of home that keep me returning.

The staff is a group of warm, helpful and genuinely caring people. I have never been made to feel more welcome than I have by ALL of the fine folk working at this property.

Housekeeping maintains the cleanliness of the rooms and the kitchen area. The front desk is always cordial, helpful and knowledgeable regarding any questions that any guests might have. Engineering is always on hand to repair anything that may go wrong.

I enjoy the continental breakfast that is waiting for me each morning and I enjoy the coffee that is available for brewing in my room. This trip my husband was thrilled with the new HD flat screen in our room.

I highly recommend this hotel, not only for it's amenities but for the kindness that is always extended to me at all times. For me, it really is a home away from home.

“Great location”

This is a great option as long as you don't plan to spend much time in the room. Rooms were very small, only one elevator (small too). But the location is fantastic!!! Quiet street, beautiful brownstone homes all around, Central Park is a stones throw away, there is a subway stop at the end of the block, plenty of good restaurants nearby, and a short walk from the American Museum of Natural History.

“Perfect for those on a budget”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

My fiance and I stayed at the Comfort Inn at the beginning of January for our first trip to New York. We booked through a 3rd party website and paid in advance which the man on reception knew as soon as I gave my name. Check in was friendly and efficient and we were at our room within 10 minutes. There is only one lift in the hotel which can take a while however as we only on the 5th floor it wasn't too bad.
We booked a Queen Room which, having read reviews before hand, we knew wasn't going to be huge. Yet despite the size it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was free in the morning and wasn't amazing, just a basic continental selection. The breakfast room is also very small and you can find yourself waiting a while for a table if you get there at the wrong time.
The hotel is perfectly located with most of the major NY sites being within walking distance. Central Park is right across the street and, if you plan on going father afield, there are 2 subway stations very close to the hotel.
One thing that does let the hotel down is the WiFi. We were told upon check in that WiFi was available for free through out the hotel however the signal is so weak that the only place you can log on is in the reception area - not very practical.
If you're visiting NY on a budget and want to spend more time outside visiting all the sights rather than in the hotel then Comfort Inn is perfect for you!
