“Make yourself at home”

The Ramada Eastside will from now on be my hotel of choice when staying in NYC. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, pillows fluffy. The only issue I had was noise coming from the wall. According to staff the knocking noise coming from the wall was caused by heating in the pipes. They did offer a different room, but I decided just to deal with it, it wasn't all that bad. I do recall reserving a queen with a microwave and mini fridge, room 711 did not have either. But pull the curtains back, and the Empire State Building was gleaming a beautiful blue. The heater did not always work, however, a quick call to the front desk and they had a portable heater sent to the room. Breakfast was from 6am-10am, and I liked that it was in its own separate area away from the lobby. Times square is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel, or you can catch the 6 train a few blocks up on 28th ave. The Empire State Building is a quick 5-10 minute walk from hotel. Staff was friendly, I had an overall pleasant experience, and will definitely be staying here again soon.

Dear Iheartny_82,
Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay, but sorry about the minor inconveniences you faced with your room type and heat. We do try to give our guests the type of room they request, but sometimes they are not available.
We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit!

“very satisfied!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed at the Ramada Eastside for the second time last fall and I have had it on my mind that I ought to write a nice review even though time has passed! The first night the safe didn't work and I reported it and the next morning we were given another room, with two queen beds, a microwave, fridge and just lots of space! WE were surprised and delighted that the front desk was nice enough to upgrade us! We had a pleasant stay, close to restaurants, the subway and a nice quiet neighborhood. I would stay there again any time!

Room Tip: We ordered a room with two queen beds as we are tall.

“If you need internet access, look elsewhere -- otherwise a fine value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Generally, I like this hotel, and I've stayed here regularly. There is much good to be said about it, and I've reviewed it favorably before. I like the Apple Core Hotels, and this one in particular.

Unfortunately, I'm beginning to look elsewhere for one reason: Internet access is important.

Yes, they have free wifi access to the internet, but it is the tragedy of the commons: It is open to the neighborhood, no password required, and so there is little to no reliable internet access for guests. It is quite obvious that the hotel's connection is shared by many within wireless reach.

This is much more apparent in the evening, but it is true at all hours.

I wish I could do without, but it is essential for business. I've written the management about this but it has not changed and now it is time to look elsewhere. If the breakfast food were similarly open to the neighborhood, they would surely take notice and act, but the internet access problem is less apparent and obvious and so the problem continues.

“Average old hotel”

We chose this hotel for its convenient location and price. But we did not satisfied. The rooms are very old and they smell dusty. even the blankets have holes on them. The receptionist in the evening time is rude and not helpful.

“A Helluva Stay In A Helluva Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Centrally situated in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan, the Ramada Eastside stands elegantly on the corner of Lexington Avenue. All this and a well maintained place to stay at a reasonable rates.

Step through the automatic doors, away from the honking and hustling of the street, and you are in the small, but comfortable, lobby: to the left is a door leading to a courtyard; on the right, adjacent to the elevators, is the entrance to the quaint breakfast room, where guests can fill their gullets with coffee, juices, bagels, cereals, pastries and such. In the center sits the front desk - where your stay begins.

The room is as basic as they come; not too big, none too small (Goldilocks would be content). Of course, there is the flat-screen TV – because watching it will, no doubt, be your primary reason for being in the World’s Greatest City. There is the in-room coffee machine and a queen-sized bed with its very comfortable mattress. Comfortable, clean and everything a guest should need. The bathroom I thought to be a tad small – unless you are a small tad; however, it was clean, well-stocked with enough toiletries (for me, anyway) and provided a shower with an adequate stream. (Not enough to blast away skin, but definitely no trickle.)

All in all, I would surely stay here again if the rates were reasonable enough – as New York hotels rates are during January. The Ramada Eastside makes for an enjoyable stay when taking a bite from the Big Apple. (I’ll bet this is the first review to use that phrase.)
