Small "charming" hotel, nice location in NYC, many nearby restaturants, bars and friendly staff. Had a junior suite for 3 nights at $650/night. Rooms furnished with antiques - but the sofa and 2 chairs in a nice sized parlor were in such bad condition that you would not want to sit on any of them. Bathroom was not very clean and had a toilet that would run unless you spent 5 minutes playing with the flush handle, maintenance panels left open to service space, dirt on edges of everything.
On 1st night, AC was out, room was 90 degrees while outside was 50. Street side room, with windows open for any kind of cooler air, street noise was very loud and almost continuous all night. Much of the noise was form a building under construction across street, worked on until midnightnight, then trucks started delivering materials to the job site and to restock the bars and resataurants in the neighborhood. The net was no sleep.
On the 2nd night the AC was fixed, but now it was Friday and with the windows closed the street noise was a bit worse than the 1st night- bar patrons, then delivery trucks. Woke to jackhammers on the corner.
The 3rd and last night was the worst, club across the street opened and closed late. Music was so loud it actually shook the bed.
Booked 5 weeks in advance, asked for a quiet room. I have had much better stays in a Red Roof Inn next to a highway.
