Brilliant hotel for our first visit - right in the heart of things - (7th and 57th) but not too crazy!!
It's just up from Central Park - Artisans Gate. And if you turn right out the door you can see the Lights of Times Square and 42nd Street!! Quick walk and you're in the hustle and excitement of the lights!!
Broadway round the corner - Carnigie Hall across the street! Tiffanys, Bloomingdales, all a short walk (2-3 block) so all the stuff of films to visit
The hotel itself? Reception is modern, clean and efficient. (loved the lift call system. Tap in your floor no and it gives you a lift no. So the four lifts are always assigned - very clever! Looks like a boutique hotel - good restaurant food - there's also a bar with snacks, but we didn't try that.
However, once you get upstairs it's very tired and could do with same makeover as lobby
Rooms are ok. Clean and adequate for our needs. We went for a superior double and was on 18th floor so not noisy but could watch the yellow cabs go by or collect outside hotel (never short of a cab here!)
Room service left a bit to be desired - overpriced and not fantastic. But we were really hungry and not well so didn't want to go out.
Watch for double tipping. Noticed this in various places. Check your bill - they add gratuity already sometimes!!
People were great here generally. Reception could be a little off hand at times (one woman more interested in chatting than helping much). But overall they were good. Gave us a late check out with no problem, and didn't quibble when late for that!!
They have a car service which is a set price, tax and tipping included toJfk they charge $65.
Cab from airport was $50. Plus tip (which I think is about average)
This hotel was great location, great price and would recommend.
Room Tip: The higher you go the better in terms of noise reduction. Not sure views improve as taller buildings...
