Novotel is in a great location, just a stroll into times square and from there everything is in your reach, the hotel rooms were fantastic with great views of times square, the bar area and dining area of the hotel were very cold the air conditioning a little too high for my liking and I didnt really like siting freezing trying to enjoy a drink, this is the only down side I found at the hotel.

Spent two weekend nights there in early February 2012. Clean, good sleep, nice views adequate room size and friendly enough staff. All very important features, but you stay here for the location.

We stayed at the Novotel for 4 nights.

Check in was easy - staff seemed friendly and responsive to our needs etc - They have a bag drop if you need to check out early but have a late flight etc, and security at the reception.

Room was clean and tidy, with enough room, good facilities/bathroom, large windows and queen size comfy bed etc.

The hotel is literally a 5 mins walk from the heart of Times Square. It is within walking distance of other attractions such as the Empire State Building, 5th Avenue, Central Park, Macy's etc - they are a good walk but its the best way to explore this city!
There are plenty of restaurants and diners within a 5 mins walk in any direction out of the hotel - there is something for everyone!

The nearest subway is 2 blocks down - 2 mins walk, this has excellent links to other areas of NYC, mainly the south ferry terminal and Battery Park where you need to be to go to the statue of liberty.
We paid $28 each for a 7 day unlimited pass on the subway and MTA busses - well worth it!

Would recommend - prices for the rooms was reasonable, just watch out for hotel prices on food and drink - it's always better to eat out!

we stayed in this hotel over valentines day 2011. the location was perfect just a few blocks walk from port authority bus station and the closest subway station is one block away. all the main broadway shows are within a few blocks from the hotel. when you get to the entrance of the hotel you have to go up in the lifts to the reception and the lobby. the staff are welcoming and friendly and the lobby is large and there is a small shop if you are in urgent need of anything. there are 2 computers in the lobby for internet access and a large balcony with amazing views onto times square for all the smokers. the rooms are spacious and modernly decorated and the bed is big and comfortable. the room has basic funrishings but how long are you going to be spending in the room anyway? it has everything you need for a comfortable stay including a fantastic view. there is a duanne reid on the corner below the hotel that will have everything you need if you forget anything and there are a number of nice restaurants close by. i would definitely stay at this hotel again.
