we stayed here for a week in 'A' room and our stay was amazing. the location was really nice and was close to all the bars, restaurants and washington park. the subway is only a 2 minute walk away and the street and surrounding area is really picturesque.

this is my 2nd time to new york and on my 1st visit i stayed in a hotel in midtown in a tiny room, i would definitely recommend an apartment here instead of a pokey hotel room. not only was the room spacious with a nice street view but it was very clean. my only niggle would have been the shower - it wasn't powerful enough and the water only trickled out so it took ages to wash the shampoo out of my hair! having said that, it didn't spoil my stay but its worth mentioning.

the owner colleen was always quick to respond to my emails before my stay and was really pleasant when we met. she's very helpful and leaves a map in the room with some suggestions of where to eat, drink etc which is useful

i would definitely recommend this accommodation to everyone who wants to stay in vibrant Greenwich Village and have close transport links to everywhere else in Manhattan. it's like a home away from home and personally i preferred it to a hotel - plus it's loads cheaper too.

Coming to NY as very regular visitors we love this place. Homely, clean, friendly, and so much better than most hotels of the overpriced city hotels, this is a wonderful place to base yourself in the city. Truly excellent value for money in a part of New York wich is so special. We have stayed in many establishements in New York and returned again to this gem this year. Collen is a lovely, I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

OK....where do I start ? Well, to begin with please note that this review is in regard to Colleen's other apartment at 17 Barrow Street (she calls it "Barrow 2").

I booked this trip ages months ago for myself and my buddies, and this apartment seemed to fit the bill well as it has 3 seperate bedrooms. However, there was a lot of emailing between myself and Colleen as I got bumped from this apartment to the one in washington Square, and then back to Barrow 2 ! Fair play to Colleen though, as she was very apologetic and generously reduced the room rate.

My only complaint between the booking of this holiday and arriving at the apartment, is that Colleen - for whatever reason - is not overly responsive to emails. BUT - don't let this put you off, as everything was ready for our arrival, and during the course of our stay she was always contactable and responded immediately to anything we required.

As for the apartment - we loved it. Shabby chic. And it's situated in a nice part of Bohemian Gotham ! Load of restaurants and bars withing staggering distance. Actually, as you leave the apartment you could literally fall into the restaurant "One If By Land..." (which is underneath), and the Barrow Ale House (a neat bar , open until 2am with booths and plenty of sports screens, which is next door at number 15 !).

The 3 rooms are good sizes by NY standards, although 1 bedroom is technically a living room as well, and there is a handy separate kichenette. I stayed at the "W" Hotel last time, and quite honestly although it is a lovely hotel I would alweays do an apartment stay in future.

One concern about the apartment though, which could possibly put you off, is security. The front door to the property has a keypad lock, which is fine. But, when you get inside and go up the stairs the property divides into two apartments. Obviously they have 2 seperate entrances. Unfortunately the entrance to Barrow 2 does not have a key. It's just missing apparently. You can lock the door from the inside, but if you leave the apartment all you can do is pull the door shut (having locked all your valuables inside the bedrooms - which have seperate keys). Not the best arrangement in the world.

So, overall ??? Would I stay there again ??? Despite the issues I mentioned above, we loved it. Hell, yeah. We'd deffo stay there again. Nice apartment, nice location, nice landlady.

Trust Coleen and you will not be disappointed. She is careful who stays there and this helps everyone's security. I thought she would be an old biddy but she is young and vibrant and so helpful about local cafes, restaurants and other entertainments. The apartments are right in the vibrant village as well. Just fantastic. Clean central secure and very reasonable. Just trust Colleen with payments etc and all will be well. Stayed 5 days with my sister and felt like a local after the first day. Will always return.

After having my vacation plans changed for me last month I decided to see what else was available in the same area. While checking Craigslist for something else I ran across this establishment and made reservations.

The location is within walking distance of everything that I could have wanted. And Colleen the owner was fantastic. I loved the fact I had my own place in Greenwich Village and will return again.
