After staying one night in another hotel that was business-related, I moved to the Fairfield Inn on 40th street, a hotel I have stayed at over 8 times with fond memories. This time again, there was no comparison!
The Fairfield Inn has adequately spacious (by NYC standards) rooms and the staff ( Paul )were friendly and very honest to return my one-day old Android Smart Phone, returned by a guest. The location is within walking distance of most major attractions. The breakfast was great.
I am a hotelier and find it very satisfying when everything runs like clock work. God knows its not easy.
It's a Fairfield, so don't expect a fancy hotel with a lot of amenities, but the rooms were clean. Breakfast is pretty standard for a Fairfield. The hotel does have a small bar and happy hour. Check in was efficient. All the staff was friendly. There's a small work out area in the basement. The best reason to stay here is the location. It's just off 8th avenue, right by a subway station. It's walking distance from Times Square and loads of restaurants. But it's a couple blocks from the middle of Times Square so a little less congested. So if you're looking to stay in Midtown and want a basic hotel, this would be a good choice.
It's also a good choice if you're going to Javits Center on business, which is why I was there. It's a 10 minute walk.
We stayed in your hotel last week in two rooms for four nights. Two front desk employees were exceptionally friendly, cheerful and helpful. The are Alexa and Paul. You are fortunate to have them representing you to your guests. We also thought the hotel location was very good for touring the City. We had a great time, and Alexa and Paul had a lot to do with that.

Recently stayed 5 nights, had read the reviews and liked the fact the GM takes the trouble to reply to reviews. Had a corner room 22nd floor at rear of hotel with a side view of Empire State, very quiet, king bed (very comfortable) and excellent large shower. Left a note on the bed for some more hangers and they were in the wardrobe upon our return.
Breakfast was busy (best arrive earlier) but didn't really wait for a seat more than a few mins, excellent choice of food & drinks. (My suggestion when very busy, the rubbish bins could be emptied quicker and due to many people the floors can get sticky with people dropping stuff, so maybe staff could keep an eye out for this too.)
Great location for a first visit as, easy to get up town or down town. Turn right out of hotel & there's a subway entrance about 50yds up on the same side as hotel just before the junction (which we didn't spot until the last day!!) Road was safe, no problems, main shopping only a few blocks away or use subway (bought 7 day card for unlimited use, $29 each a very good buy!)
Directly opp hotel you can enter Port Authority Station and cut through past many shops etc incl Radio Shack where we bought an ATT pay as you go Sim card.
All in all very happy with the hotel, does what it says on the tin!
