“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I recently stayed at Smyth on Saturday evening & had a fantastic time. Michael at the Front Desk was lovely- always smiling & he checked me in very quickly! I loved my room (511)- there was a cozy little sitting area, amazing bed, very cool, modern bathroom with an amazing rain shower & mosaic tiles on the floor, well-stocked mini-bar, & very clean, masculine lines that I absolutely love! My room was also very quiet- I couldn't hear any street noise, which was awesome, as I was there to rest & relax.

I had room service twice, for Dinner & Breakfast, & each time the food was quite good & arrived quickly, always with a smile, including by Jacob (Doorman), who also stored my bags, asked how my stay was & was very polite!

William at the Concierge desk also helped me with a welcome amenity of Cupcakes that i requested last minute & all was perfect with this- he was very efficient, kind & due to his recommendation, I have a new favorite place in NYC! Amanda at the front desk was very gracious & gave me a late check-out that was super appreciated! The Front Desk Agent that checked me out was also lovely- tops all around for staff at Smyth!!

I live in the city, but love staying at hotels in New York & this was my 2nd stay here & it was just as perfect as the first time! I just love the intimate feeling of the hotel, the modern, clean design, the Kiehl's Bath products, & the overall vibe at Smyth! Thanks for everything! Looking forward to returning again soon. ~

Best,
Patrick Winkler

“Smyth Hotel. Tribeca”

Fantastic hotel...very well appointed and very 'boutiquey'. Staff excellent and very helpful whenever needed. We travelled as a family and stayed with our two teenage sons, so took two rooms. Both rooms were excellent and very well presented...absolutely no complaints. Express-line subway is right outside the door which is great for getting around Manhattan. The Smyth is small enough to provide really personal service in a very welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is very good, especially breakfast. Only issue was the lack of free wi-fi in the room, but we worked out way round that. Would highly recommend this hotel and will be back next time in the Big Apple.

Pros: excellent location in the heart of tribeca, the room is big and the beds are very comfortable, smyth uses khiel's amenities which i love. absolutely love the decor and design. the subway access was across the street. the front desk staff and concierge was very helpful, they're recommendations were excellent.

Cons: the shower glass door is frosted, so its a little uncomfortable to shower when you are traveling with friends.

Dear Cindy A,

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review from your recent stay with us.

I was delighted to read that you enjoyed the hotel, its amenities and of course its central location in the heart of TriBeCa.

I have noted your comments regarding the frosted glass on the showers which are not in all rooms so we can certainly help you find a room with a different set up in the bathroom for a future visit.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future and in the meantime please feel free to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for upcoming special offers.

“Elegant, modern, upscale luxury”

An excellent hotel - well-appointed and tasteful. Attentive and subtle staff. The location is superb, right above the Red line 1 2 3 subway station (about 7 minutes ride from Penn station). We found the bar downstairs very nice, and the breakfast in the adjoining restaurant is great. Two minor quibbles - no free wifi, and the in-room catering (bottles of water etc) are very expensive. This is a lovely hotel for a stay in TriBeCa - recommended.

“Amazingly cool trendy hotel. Can't wait to return!”

Hi there,

My husband and I have just returned from honeymooning in New York over New Years, where we stayed at The Smyth Tribecca. What an amazing experience! From the moment we stepped out the cab until the moment we stepped back in a week later, we had nothing but fabulous. cheery, top class service.

The hotel is gorgeous, what more can be said?! Extremely trendy and chic, with a retro vintage feel. The beautiful furnishings which are so luxurious yet comfortable ensure you feel right at home. The little vintage toys at both ends of reception are so cute and a really stylish little extra which stands out and sets the tone. They also have gorgeous photography books in the lobby set out for you to look at and leaf through, which I really appreciated being a photographer.

The staff are a real credit to the hotel. They are so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. It was very nice to be treated so well from the moment we checked in. I have to say a special thank you to Michael and Nancy at the front desk, who delivered fantastic service. Michael especially stood out as he always greeted us with a smile and had a some "banter" with us. Ela at the concierge desk was amazing and her knowledge of the area as well as the hot spots to go in NYC were astounding. She went out of her way to locate places for us and make reservations as well as doing a great job tracking down a Teppanyaki restaurant.

Everything else was fantastic. Everyone really went out of there way to make our trip amazing and make us feel at home. We were upgraded to The Thompson Suite for our stay, which really was the highlight of our trip, for which I must say a huge thank you to Alistair the GM at the hotel. He even sent us a scrumptious cheese board and delicious bottle of red wine to congratulate us. The room was amazing although I feel like its a bit of a dis-service calling it a room as it was more like an extremely luxurious apartment. Oozing sophisticated elegance, the furnishings were top class, very comfortable with a trendy modern meets retro theme running through it. I will load my photographs up later so you can see what I mean. It had a huge living room and dining room with fully stocked bar. A huge bedroom and enormous bathroom with a shower for 2 (which I think you could actually fit 5 in it!). The bedroom had a great bed, which was so comfortable, a really peaceful relaxing space. Just what you want after a long day exploring the city. Being on the 6th floor we had some great views or the neighbourhood and I got some great shots.

This is the sort of hotel where they really take care of the little details. The mini bar was fully stocked with everything you could possibly want or need and they even had a lay out of all the little nick naks you may have forgotten such as travel adaptors etc. We had a New York Times put on our door every morning, which was very much appreciated by my husband, as well as 2 little hotel chocolates put on our pillow every night with the turn down service.

One thing I actually have to mention, which I think is a fantastic service, is the Flight info on the TV. You can check your incoming and outgoing flight times, delays etc. You can also check out at the touch of a button on your remote, great if you have an early start or are in a rush.

The location is perfect with the Subway right outside the door, so convenient! Also Starbucks across the road, great for a early morning coffee before heading out. Its smack bang in the middle of everything, making it a short walk to The Village or further downtown to the Financial district. Really easy and inexpensive for cabs to East Village, Soho, Chinatown etc.

Well I think its obvious we had a great time and we really can't wait to return. It will be our only choice for a hotel when we're back in NYC! I highly recommend a visit.

Room Tip: We had a suite which was lush and being on the 6th floor had good views. However the Studio Kings ar...
