“Oasis in the heart of Times Square”

This was our 2nd stay at Casablanca and it did not disappoint. This hotel is warm and cozy with a friendly and accommodating staff. It's location is stellar, walking distance to all the theater district highlights. My husband had arranged champagne and delicious gourmet cupcakes in honor of my milestone birthday that we were in town to celebrate. Our room, esp the king size bed, was cozy and comfortable. I love the amenities (robes, slippers, great toiletries). Rick's Cafe is located on the 2nd floor where breakfast and happy hour are served. But there's always coffee and tea & cookies available throughout the day. It's a great value for the money, esp. how they offer a discounted, pay-in-advance option. Can not say enough good things about this hotel!

“Great Boutique Hotel”

We absolutely loved our stay at The Casablanca. The service and location were incredible. Stepping out of the craziness of Times Square into a warm and welcoming environment was like coming home. Rick's Cafe was very enjoyable for both breakfast and happy hour. Every employee from the front desk, to Rick's Cafe, to the housekeeping staff were wonderful. Special mention to Lili in Rick's Cafe who really went above and beyond in service. The location of The Casablanca is right in the heart of Times Square. The rooms are very nice. They do have an odor at times from the adjacent restaurant, and the rooms in the back have some vent noise from a building next door. But, I would definitely choose this hotel again because of the service, warmth, cleanliness, and feeling of safety that is very unique for a city hotel, especially in New York.

“Very nice hotel in Times Square”

I looked a January stay here based on reviews in Trip Advisor. All in all, a really lovely, small hotel which puts a premium on service and guest comfort. What we liked:
2nd floor is a large reception/breakfast area where guests can hang out, use the computer, and help themselves to complimentary coffee/tea, etc, throughout the day/night. The hotel serves a substantial continental breakfast each morning, which is included in the room price and hosts a happy hour with wine & cheese in late afternoon. Decor is exotic, Moroccan-inspired. Rooms are small (to be expected), but well-designed and comfortable.
CONS: There's no individual climate-control in the rooms, and it was HOT. The staff helped us make adjustments so it was bearable, but beware if you need that option to sleep comfortably. Also, our room was on the front of the hotel and it was NOISY due to construction, at least on Saturday morning. You're literally steps from Times Square, so location can't be beat if you're there to see shows. Concierge was also very helpful in scoring last-minute tickets for us. I'd come back, but I'd request a room in the back and/or higher floor (I think we were on the 6th).

Room Tip: If you're noise adverse, notify the staff when booking. Rooms on the front can let in loud stre...

“A Lovely Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed for 2 nights in a King Room for a fun weekend in the city. Our play was a 4 min walk from the hotel and Madison Square Garden was about a 15 min walk.
I am a very picky person and I can say I was very impressed. Very clean and nicely decorated. The staff were extremely friendly and kind which makes all the difference in making a good stay a great one. I love Ricks Cafe and all the extras that the hotel provides.
If you are sensitive to noise, request a quiet room and they will do there best to accomodate you like they did for me. I have been sleeping with ear plugs for years because I am very sensitive to noise. I get the mack brand wax ones from CVS which you can mold to your ear. These are the best and I have tried alot of earplugs over the years. I never leave home without them. I even wear them when I fly so I don't have to deal with the noise.
Getting back to The Casablanca, We had planned to drop off our luggage, go to lunch then the play but they graciously allowed us to check in early on Sat. 11am as our room was ready.
I would opt for a boutique hotel everytime with great customer service then some large hotel with hundreds of rooms with impersonal service.
Someone had referenced pictures being deceptive on their websit. I beg to differ. I think the room was bigger than I expected and also Ricks's Cafe is large and looks smaller on the website.
Thanks to the Casablanca for a great stay.

“Best of NYC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We scaned trip advisor about hotels in NYC. Our first times square selections were not selected due to the many bad reports. we selected casablanca after reviewing their many guest ratings. we booked online for 7 nights and got a fair discount. from our arrival to our departure, the staff and the hotel exceeded our expections. the room was adequate and very clean. the morning breakfast, included in the price, was one of the best we have enjoyed with the exception of 5 star hotels in europe. the afternoon wine and cheese buffet was very good and was a terrific surprise. since we had very large lunches, this became our 'supper'. we saved on the cost of breakfast and dinner. wahoo!

we have stayed in NYC many times and it is hard to believe it took us so long to discover this gem.

many thanks to all the staff, from the doorman, front desk, the RICK room ladies and the cleaning staff. TOP NOTCH. this was such an enjoyable stay.
