“Amazing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

You will love the Warwick! Great location, excellent service, friendly staff and I give them my highest recommendation. Rooms were comfortable, clean and well appointed. Small-ish bathroom but as I was travelling solo, not a problem and I'd rater have the 6th avenue view. Besides, Cary Grant made this hotel is residence for 12 years which speaks to the Hearst Castle meets NYC aspect of the Warwick and great heritage this hotel has to offer. You wont be disappointed with this great value in Midtown. I am going back in 3 weeks and plan to stay there again! Useful Tip: Use your AAA discount and Platinum amex card holders get an automatic upgrade.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a newly decorated room

“Classic NYC Hotel in great location but unfortunate service misstep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

While this hotel isn't a flashy as many in the area, it maintains a bit of old school charm that was comforting during my hectic holiday visit. My husband and I were here for 3 nights in December to celebrate my birthday. The location is what really makes this hotel ideal. Easy walking to theatres, shopping, museums, Central Park and restaurants. Our room was an upgraded space so quite comfortable and very quiet. King bed, desk and sitting area. The bathroom was quite small however and really not have much functional storage. Had a little musty smell since no air circulation if door not ajar. Hotel can show its age a bit but nothing horrible. Ammenities include a small gym, parking across the street, concierge, formal restaurant as well and great lounge with informal dining. I was ready to sing praises for this old school charmer but they managed to deliver birthday flowers from my brother to another room. Really embarassing for everyone and while I cannot hold the hotel responsible for bad behavior, crushing to think someone else kept flowers that clearly did not belong to them. My family was not reimbursed for this mistake and should have in my opinion. I won't completely write the hotel off but this incident put a sour note on an otherwise good expereince.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the elevator, much more quiet

Dear RidlerGirl67,
As your stay with us was in December, it took s a few days to look into this. The flowers were sent to the wrong room - a case of two guests having the same name – the flowers came from the florist your mother selected with only a last name.
We only found out when you mother called us after your departure and her speaking to you. In discussing the circumstances surrounding the error she was very understanding and was appreciative when we sent her the full cost of the flowers. Nevertheless it is unfortunate and we do apologize. Given the fact that this was a surprise we can understand the disappointment all around.
Your room was a large corner room with windows on two sides. It does however have a small bathroom. Most guests find this a fair trade off.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and we hope to see you back soon.

“Giving an average rating based on certain staff shortcomings ...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Had to go through so many hoops at this property to obtain proper suite and honor reservations that I can only give an average rating. For the price I expect the best and the Warwick was woefully short in my estimation. I was there during Fashion Week and I will admit the place was bustling with people looking at themselves in the mirror a lot ... so it was fun to a point. When I finally got to the room I ordered, it was beautiful ... a corner suite overlooking Avenue of the Americas ... an old Grande Dame she is with the type of decorating Cary Grant would expect. The bar is fun and expensive, but isn't everything in the Big Apple? This is a Poser's Paradise ... be aware of management personalities that can vary wildly, from sophisticated and caring to smarmy and egotistical ... so beware and get your ducks in a row before you show up at the front desk. Get names of staff you speak with and stick with the ones you get along with. General Manager was pompous and uncooperative when I spoke directly with him. After one conversation with him I knew to find someone else to direct concerns.

Room Tip: Make certain your room is in a location you desire ... note on your reservation or conversation with...

Dear Michael T,
I am the Gen Mgr and have written to you privately some days ago to determine who you spoke to during your stay. I had shared with you the reasons why I believe that you and I didnt speak. However I take responsibility for the manner in which anyone of my team interacted with you and assure you that I have shared your comments with all the managers.
I look forward to hearing from you so that I can further address and offer some insight into your comments.

“Disappointed”

Upon entrance to room, noticed large stains on rug. But let it go as it was late. Booked package with tickets for Top of the rock and MOMA, but did not notice that set of tickets were missing until after we were in our room. I called front desk, told them we would pick them up in am. At 8 o'clock the next morning I received a call asking if we wanted the tickets delivered. No, what I wanted was conveyed last night, and I did not want a wake up call until 930 am, NOT 8. In addition, we were awakened the second night of our stay by staff trying to get the bill under the door with some difficulty-as they awoke both my husband and myself who are sound sleepers at 5:00 am. The package was a good value, but when staff are not protective of client sleep, it is never a rewarding encounter.

Dear Disappointed,
Our rush to make amends and give you the tickets that were not in your packaged envelope on check-in caused us to wake you early (8 am) in the morning. Sometimes we get so flustered when we don’t get things right. We do apologize.

“Warwick revisted, not as good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at the Warwick with my wife and daughter this past summer and it was great! Maybe it was the warm weather, but when returning for the winter it was not so good. My wife had her company book their group there because of our previous experience.
The room was like a sauna, I finally got the heat controled by turning it off, and having the window cracked open (fun to do in a snow storm). I had hoped they would put me in a room comparable to what I had before, but instead it was smaller(even though I asked for what we had before).
The worst though was room service. I ordered wine with our meal, and when the room service person attempted to open the bottle he destroyed the cork(sending it all over the floor) and said he would be right back with another bottle. 20 mins later with my meal nearly done still no sign. Long story short, I get the bottle about an hour later, they said they would take care of my bill(free wine, should have comped the meal). The issue, so they say, was that they could not find another bottle, I say then just upgrade to the next priced bottle, not have me wait over an hour!
So room service so bad I would never try it there again, service that stunk because management should no how to deal with a problem, especially when, as in our case, there were 3 rooms booked for 2 nights through us in total. Location, is still great, rooms are still big, but the issue with the service means we will probably not stay a third time.

Room Tip: Try for a higher floor, that faces a street.

My sincere apologies. I have emailed you privately regarding the In Room Dining meal and promise to handle this to your satisfaction as should have been done.

You will be happy to hear that we are soon to complete a full revamp of our HVAC systems so that we can offer better in room control during mild temperatures during winter.

Thank you for the great comment from your prior stay in summer and we hope to earn your satisfaction the next time you visit.
