“Perhaps the most restful spot on the eastern seaboard...”

You can spend lots of money tooling around on a beautiful yacht or a private plane, but you will be hard pressed to find anything more luxurious, or peaceful, than the outdoor shower at Aunt Sukies overlooking the gardens and Wellfleet bay. We stayed there years ago and went just back for a long weekend with our teenagers. The B&B is quiet and exquisitely peaceful - surrounded by unobstructed views of the bay and Great Island out the back (all rooms face the bay) and wonderful gardens all around. It has about five rooms and we have always met the most interesting guests. Aunt Sukies serves up a wonderful home-made breakfast along with great conversation (if you want it), which may last awhile and is most enjoyable. The rooms are spacious and quiet with views over the bay. The sea breezes are heavenly and everything is, of course, immaculately clean. There is internet and cell-phone service but no TVs or air conditioners - not that you need either. There is plenty to do and everything is readily accessible including biking, sailing and long walks or a jog along the harbor. Town is minutes away. We have traveled widely and Aunt Sukies is still one of the best places we have found, anywhere, to rest and restore and find quality family time.

Room Tip: We stayed in the two upstairs older rooms; there are two larger new rooms with balconies and a downs...

This is the perfect Cape location if you want great hosts, top accommodation, beautiful facilities, overflowing garden, sea and ocean and lakes to swin in, whales to watch, culture to devour, places to explore, books to read, history to learn and to meet a diverse enriching welcoming group of fellow residents.
Sue and Dan could not be more welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. And Wellfleet is a teriffic engaging community with really interesting places to eat, visit and buy from.

Book early to aviod disappointment

“Excellent hosts, nice room in great location, outstanding breakfast”

I planned a three-day trip with my daughter, a recent college grad and son, a college student in order to spend quality time apart from our routine. We chose Aunt Sukie's Bed and Breakfast in Wellfleet to be off the beaten path and away from the crowds. I was thrilled with our location and the simplicity of our room. If you are looking for luxury Its not for you. It was perfect for us. The private apartment they have would have been even better, but it was booked

Our room was really good for two people but we needed an extra bed. It made things a bit cramped but on short notice we felt lucky to have it. The queen bed was comfortable and the furnishings were fine. We had a nice balcony looking out over a private beach. The bathroom was a good size and included a small frig. Everything was very clean.

The best part of our stay were our hosts who were warm and welcoming. The breakfast was perfectly delicious and in a pleasant dining area. The outside deck was the usual location for breakfast but the weather was foggy and wet which never deterred us from having a great time.

Although our room was a great place to curl up and read a book, we found the location was central to hiking nearby, dining out, putt-putt, P-town for biking and general craziness. My 20 year old son would have preferred Provincetown which is an indicator of his age group. I, a middle-aged mom, was very content at Aunt Sukie's.

“Our once a year heaven on earth”

I don't know why I have not written a review here, perhaps out of fear of potentially eliminating my reservation for our favorite week there. I won't even say what that week is, but we've been going here in the same week for six or seven years. Sue and Dan Hamar are, to us, like family, and while we vacation elsewhere during the year, this is the only place we go to that truly relaxes, restores, and reinvigorates us until the next year. We meet the same two couples there every year, as well as other guests, and the breakfast interactions and conversations have been as convivial, illuminating, educational, refreshing and scintillating as you would wish. My deepest, darkest fear is that the owners might someday decide to retire. I cannot even imagine this B&B without Sue and Dan. I would be a very, very disappointed person should that come to pass. Let's not talk about that anymore.

I hope that nobody takes this review as sufficient justification to reserve our week there, because it has become a family tradition for which there is no substitute possible. Nonetheless, should I be hit by a bus tomorrow, perhaps someone else might take my place there, during that magical week. I am very bus-conscious, and none have struck me yet. No, I will not reveal that week, it being the best of the year.

“Spectacular views, great food & hospitality”

My husband and I stayed at Aunt Sukie's in August of 2007. Everything about it was wonderful. Breakfast included delicious homemade muffins and breads as well as fresh fruit, and our choice of coffee or tea, brewed to order. Our hosts were always gracious and helpful, and as interesting and fun to talk to as their guests; without ever being intrusive, they made us feel right at home and seemed able to anticipate our every need. The view of Mayo Beach and the bay and curving peninsula beyond is incomparable, and beach access couldn't be handier, just a minute's walk across a narrow stretch of marsh grass on a private wooden boardwalk. On the other side of the house is a spectacular garden with benches and chairs scattered comfortably about, perfect for taking time out to sit and read a book. Our room was on the second floor and our private deck afforded us not only a great view of the beach, but also of the town's fireworks display. In addition to being right on its own private segment of the beach, Aunt Sukie's is located on Chequesset Neck Road, which makes for an easy bike ride to just about anywhere in Wellfleet. Oh, and if you don't want to ride or drive, just walk down Mayo Beach to Wellfleet Village. This place made for a terrific getaway and we'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
