“Nice but rough around the edges”

I booked two rooms at the Inn for Labor Day weekend. Both rooms were clean and sparsely but adequately decorated. We all enjoyed the historical feel and location, which was a short drive to town and to the harbor. (Walking was dangerous; there are discontinuous sidewalks and the traffic moves fast.) The grounds and buildings clearly needed some upkeep. Even simple things like trimming back dead flowers were unattended. You could also hear Route 6 traffic pretty clearly. Breakfast was simple but fine.
The innkeeper was not helpful about Wellfleet's important but complicated beach sticker rules. What she told us was wrong. By Labor Day weekend, an innkeeper should know those rules inside and out. She had also "run out" of the forms (so get some more?). The innkeeper was also borderline rude about our malfunctioning toilet, first saying that its been happening all summer (so fix it?) and then suggesting to my husband that he wasn't flushing correctly.
Overall, Wellfleet lodging seems limited and competition isn't a driving force. I wouldn't particularly recommend this Inn, but I don't know if there are better alternatives.

Room Tip: Carriage House upstairs room was fairly spacious, relatively distant from Route 6.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011 via mobile

Three of us stayed for 3 nights. We had he attic room which was huge. No frills but exactly what we wanted, with a great breakfast thrown in. Beach towels available or all guests and very friendly staff. Wi-Fi. Location is superb, with easy access to all the Cape has to offer, including beaches, ponds and quaint villages. We stayed an extra night. would definitely recommend

“One couple.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Very nice old (1820) and comfortable inn which is very well maintained. The furniture and decor are perfect and the kind of decor that would be expected in an 1820's home. FORTUNATELY it does NOT look like some high priced interior decorator has gone through and matched all the furniture and plastered Laura Ashley wallpaper everywhere. Decor is more casual than formal. We shared a bathroom which had a claw footed tub (with shower) and the sink was the old style with separate warm and cold water faucets. Very nice living room with a fireplace was good for reading. A couple of porches. The continental breakfast was good and served in a nice room. Nice grounds. I don't recall if it was air conditionerd, maybe not. We didn't need it in late September. Correct spelling: Duck "Creeke".

“new england charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Over fourth of July weekend we stayed at the Inn at Duck Creeke. It was a nice walk to the restaurants and shops. We were in Wellfleet for the food, beaches, bike trail( we biked 50 miles)5 mile race and fresh water ponds so by the time we got back to the Inn, we were ready for bed. Not only was this a peaceful place to stay, good location and clean. The Innkeepers were friendly, they gave us towels for the beach upon request as well as a fan. With Wellfleet having some of the most wonderful seafood restaurants in the world, we enjoyed dining at the Inn at Duck Creeke(tasty scalloped stuffed lobster and some of the best chowder I ever had) and were excited about a free bottle of wine for staying there. If you have a chance to stay at Inn at Duck Creeke you will want to return.

“We had a very nice stay.......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We were in Wellfleet for a weekend wedding. We had a very nice stay at the Inn at Duck Creeke. After reading many of the reviews, we were not sure what to expect. There was also another wedding booked at this B&B at the same time so the Inn was full. There are 3 buildings to accommodate guests and we did not hear any complaints from any of the guests that we were with. The rooms are basic B&B and were spotless. . We had a third floor room that had an a/c plus two floor fans, with a queen and two double beds and private bath. The bathroom was small but adequate. It would be great for a family and It was comfortable . The continental breakfast was fine. The coffee was excellent and hot.. They served fresh english muffins, bagels, cereal, juice, coffee cake etc. Everything was nicely set out and there was a girl who checked on everything frequently . We would stay at this Inn again.
