I stayed at the Thunderbird for a few months on a business assignment. The rooms are decent (clean and equipped with a small fridge and microwave), the food in the cafeteria was overpriced and not good, but my real problem was with most of the staff. I'm a friendly person and rarely have issues with anyone. Though there were a *few* friendly people working on the property, most were completely rude. It's as if they were pissed you were there, and that your very presence bothered them. Beware. I know most people only stay for a weekend and aren't worried about cell phone service, but if you're staying for any length of time and would like to talk to your friends and family, service is an issue. To attempt it, place the phone in the window and use your blue tooth. Internet is unreliable. Water will cause breakouts that make you look like you just hit puberty. Don't drink it, get some from the store - that's a tips from the locals. There are many stray dogs that roam the area, as well - just a heads up. They're very friendly....and hungry. As far as having a dog there, expect to put down a $500 deposit. I hear this is hard to get back....Advice? Stay at the Holiday Inn - it's still close to the canyon. The Junction Restaurant is "the place" to eat.
