“bunch of thieves”

My husband and I wanted to take our grandson (he's 5 1/2) to see the shuttle launch on Nov. 1st, 2010. We also invited our neighbors who have children to go with us. I called and booked two rooms, but insisted if the shuttle did not go off, that we could cnx. giving them the recommended time. I gave the hotel my credit card and again I mentioned about cancelling. They assured me it was okay. However, I was not given any noticed that if I cancelled they would only refund 50% of the room rate. I did not know of this until I called and inquired why my card had not been credited.
I called numerous times getting a hotel employee, as I was asking for the manager. I was informed that the manager/owner would not speak to me and I could only email my complaint to them. I think this is a disservice to me and to anyone else that had booked a room at that time.
I will not ,and anyone I know, will never stay at the Riverside Inn, for I feel they misrepresented themselves and took money that did not belong to them.

“Basic But Good Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2010

It ssems that a lot of the problems in earlier reviews have been attended to. We found the room reasonably clean, ok what do you expect for that sort of money, the Hilton? The shower worked perfectly well. Only draw back was you needed muscles like Garth to open patio door. but once you did the fishing was fantastic three strides and you were fishing. The staff were courteous and the manager was extremely helpful. we will definitely be staying there next year.

Thank you for the great feedback. We have worked hard since taking over at the beginning of September to improve the overall cleanliness and functionality of the rooms. We are making great progress and look forward to welcoming you back again next year when our renovations will be complete.

“read if watching a shuttle launch”

Okay-this place is a major dump.HOWEVER,if you are ooking for a place to view a shuttle launch, this is the place. Rather than book a room, show up early in the day of a launch and pay $10.00 to park your car and use the facilities. We just happened upon the inn and used it for the day of the launch. The view was amazing. The pool was clean and a nice respite from the heat. The bathroom available was just awful. If this was an indication of the property, don't stay here. We were at Disney, drove to Titusville to view the launch (on my Bucket List and exceeded my expectations by far) and went on to Savannnah for more vacation. We packed a cooler with everything we needed, brought comfortable lawn chairs, binoculars and sun screen. The only thing no on had was a radio. There are only two more scheduled launches. GO GO GO and do what we did. It worked out really well. We;'re planning on going to the next launch and paying the $10. parking fee at the Inn and getting the veiw of a lifetime.

“Bedbugs for roommate”

Booked a room in riverside inn for a month, stayed 5 min. I ran away. The place was vested with bedbugs, and other bugs. Asked for refund from the Owner he refused. I strongly don' recommend it.

“The WORST EVER -- Pay the extra money for a better place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2010

I had made reservations based on the Inn's website and pictures. I used HotelPlus. Before I got to the motel, I called to see if I could reserve their best room for us due to the number of bad reviews I found afterwards. The woman from the motel told me that all the rooms had been redone because there was a new owner. This was a lie, because the owner has owned if for over 6 years and the motel room was disgusting. The guy who checked us in was nice. But it went downhill quick. Room was nasty. Smelled of cigerette smoke (nonsmoking room). Floor dirty with wood crumbs and cigerette ashes. Sheets had hair on them. And please, don't look on the other side of the window curtain. But no one mentioned the bedbugs that were the size of my trimmed pinkie nail. We were there to watch the April 5th Shuttle Launch so another hotel was out of our budget (yeah we were trying to save a $100) We requested another room, but they said there was none available. But he brought us new linen. We went to Walgreens and bought Lysol and disinfectant wipes and cleaned the room. I put the new linen on the bed. In the morning there was to blood spots on the sheets (which should have told me to go then, but...) We watched the amazing launch. (Yes it does have a great view but I would rather stay in a tent next time). The traffic was terrible so we went back to the room to catch a nap before leaving. After 30 minutes, I turned my head over and saw a bedbug the size of my pinkie nail. "We're leaving"! My husband found a bedbug the same size under his pillow and a bite on his calf which swelled. By the afternoon, the bite area was the size of a quarter and the surrounding area was 3 in x 3 in swollen area which he said was itching like crazy. We did check the mattress and headboard before we went to bed, but why should we have to?? We're going to dispute the charges and hopefully get our money back.
