“Great time”

This property is in a nice industrial area. It's pretty deserted on the weekend but crazy during the workweek. You will need a rental car to get around.
We stayed in Unit 214 (a one bedroom suite) in June 2007. We asked for a quiet room so our room faced the parking lot. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job every day. Our room was next door to the laundry facility, which was very convenient. The kitchen was clean and had a small amount of dishes. The bedroom was very small, you can just walk around the bed. There is no extra space in there. But, the bed was comfortable and there were five pillows! There was a tv in the living room and a tv in the bedroom. Yes, the ac unit in the bedroom was noisy. But, I am a very light sleeper and it did not wake me up when it turned off and on. There was adequate free parking and the pool was clean. The breakfast was very good, except the eggs were runny and the coffee was really strong! The staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator was terribly slow so we just took the stairs.
There was a good amount of information in our room about nearby restaurants, grocery stores, etc. which was very helpful given the cruddy map we had received from the rental car agency. On the day we were leaving, we asked for a later checkout time (normal checkout time is 12:00) and we were given an additional hour which gave us time to hit the beach for a little bit before we had to leave.
I would stay here again.

This property was a typical Residence Inn. Very clean well kept rooms, although they were starting to show a bit of wear on cupboards/doors/etc..Staff were friendly, morning breakfast was the usual fair but when it comes with the room its a nice touch. The hotel is about 3 or 4 miles straight down from a shopping/restaurant area in Mira Mesa.A bit of a drive to downtown San Diego attractions--about 15 to 20 minutes but its manageable.I would stay at this hotel again.

“Great Stay at Residence Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2006

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Residence Inn Sorrento Mesa. As a long time Trip Advisor user, I researched a number of hotels before settling on a property for our first San Diego visit. I booked a good rate directly thru the hotel website. This Residence Inn lived up to its good reviews. We received a friendly welcome upon arrival. We were somewhat concerned as we pulled into the parking lot to see a very large portable generator humming along right next to the lobby. When we checked in we found out that the local utility company shut down power to many local businesses for the first two days of our stay and the hotel obtained a generator so as not to inconvenience guests. The generator was obviously up to the job, because we didn't notice any problems. We had a one bedroom queen suite which was spacious enough for the 3 or us. My 10 year old slept on the sleeper sofa and it was of better quality than many sleepers or rollaways we've had to use before. It would probably fit two children or one adult comfortably. Our bed was very comfortable and having the kitchen (full size fridge, microwave and dishwasher) was a plus. The pool and hot tub were great after a long day of seeing the sights! The property had a mix of families and business travelers. The complimentary breakfast was definitely a step above the standard "continental" fare with scrambled eggs, waffles, hashbrowns and variations of sausages, biscuits and gravy and croissants in additional to the more traditional offerings. The property is a good ways from downtown, but with a rental car it was still very convenient to all of the sights (about 15 minutes to each of the major attractions). A good map (or get directions on the complimentary internet access!) and it was pretty easy to get around! Our only complaint (and the ONLY reason we did not rate the property an Excellent) was that the airconditioning unit was pretty loud. The rooms were all very quiet and we didn't hear anything of our neighbors, but at night when the AC cycled on it was enough to wake both my husband and I. We tried turning it off, but the room was too stuffy, so ended up leaving the AC running all night. It was still a bit loud and took some getting used to, but was preferrable to being startled awake each time it kicked on! Overall, it was a great stay and we would definitely book there for future visits to San Diego!

  • Liked — Really good value for good quality property!
  • Disliked — AC noise was only complaint.

“Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2006

I was scheduled to stay at another extended stay property about 1/2 mile down the street for 2 months, but convinced my company into letting me stay at Residence, and boy am I glad. I have been here at the hotel for about 2 weeks now, and the service is top notch. They feed me every morning and on Mon thru Thur evening they have a reception with great food, cold beer and a great way to meet the family I will be living with for the next 2 months. I inquired about a grocery store, since I have a kitchen and they said to just leave a list of what I needed and they will gladly go shopping for me. I did this, came home at 3p from the office and it was all put away in my kitchen. What service.

My room, wow, has a fire place, two bedrooms, two baths a great kitchen and is quiet, all for a rate a lot less than any other hotel in the area.

If you are looking for a place to live for a while, I highly suggest staying here.

“Wow! Great Room and More”

You could tell this hotel was outstanding when we checked in. The staff was nice and very welcoming. When we got in the room, we were surprised. The room was new and big with a kitchen. In the morning the breakfast was delicious. You can make your own waffles and they had sausage, eggs, cereal, yogurt, ect. In the evening Mon-Thurs there was a manager's reception that included a little meal and free drinks (pop, wine, beer). The meal was enough for us to be our dinner. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.
