So this hotel really doesn't have anything going for it other than that it is close to the airport and the rental car returns of Avis and Hertz. It is a standard Hilton without really any charm, including the views, which are nothing compared to the Hilton Bay Front a few miles south. Do not stay here if you are visiting San Diego for pleasure, as it is too far from anything but the airport.
The rooms are fairly standard, perhaps a little bigger than the average Hilton room, though the furniture is a bit older, and the bathrooms certainly small. Air system is fairly loud and the top floor rooms are alive with the humming produced by the hotel's HVAC system part of which sits on the roof of the hotel. So at the very least avoid the top floor, which also has a low false ceiling in the hallway, making it feel dingy.
They charge you here even if you park your own car a hefty $15 fee. This seems a lot when their is ample parking and no one is there to greet you at the door anyway.
Customer service was fine, check-in efficent. Check-out the same. Stay here if you have an early morning flight, otherwise seek the Hilton's further to the south.

If you want to have a quit place to stay but still close to the city, Little Italy, and some of the best Mexican food. Stay here.

Just don’t order a Pizza at the hotel restaurant, unless you like breakfast sausage on your pizza, I don’t and the pizza was teribble

Spent three nights at this property and very much enjoyed the stay.

The front staff was fantastic. Marcos at the front desk greeted us with a warm smile. We had booked an up level harbor/city view and he indicated that we had a fantastic view from our room. Which it did of Condado and the San Diego skyline. It was worth the extra cost.

The property itself appears to have recently been remodeled. Room was clean, bathroom spotless and decorating up to date. TV was flat screen and plenty of channels to choose from.

I did not use the restaurant or bar so I have no reviews.

The downside is it is a 40+ year old property and your do hear all the water running in the rest rooms above or below you.

The best side, the staff that is very helpful and friendly!

"Airport" may be in the name, but it is not located on airport property or immediately adjacent to the San Diego Airport. In fact, there is another Hilton between the Airport and the Harbor Island Hotel (this one is much nicer). So the bottom line is, if you want to stay in close proximity to airport (less than 5 minutes) and want a hotel with a view of the Marina on one side of the hotel and a spectacular view of the harbor and the San Diego skyline on the other, this is the place to stay. My wife and I stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights, combining business with pleasure and we were not disappointed. A walk along the bay/harbor begins right across the street from the hotel. Two very nice restaurants are within walking distance (2 to 4 blocks) from the hotel. The room was great (very clean), the amenities are up to date and the staff are all very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast Tip: Their breakfast buffet is excellent and is less expensive if you book it with your room and include it in the cost., Otherwise it is rather pricey. Also the breakfast area overlooks the marina and is a great setting to enjoy your morning meal.
