we stayed in the marina inn for a week. the employed were very friendly and helpful.
the rooms were clean. we would go in this hotel agen, if we come back to san diego.

We stayed here the week after Xmas and had a great time. The room was clean and spacious. We asked for a fridge and microwave which was provided immediately. This saved considerably on eating out. This inn is located downtown within walking distance of many attractions. We lucked out for the Giant Balloon parade on the Wednesday, we just walked out of our room one block to the Harbor and there we were! We went to Coronado Island, the Gaslamp district, the zoo etc. Absolutely love San Diego, we had never been here before, but now it's our favorite West Coast city. However, the best thing about this inn was the manager Charlie and his wife, who went completely out of their way to help us in every way they could. Apparently they just took over this inn a few months ago having moved from the East coast. We're certain they will make this a really great place with their attitude and disposition. The value for downtown San Diego is great, the location is super. Really, the only downside is the traffic and train noise, but you get used to that after a night or so. We would thoroughly recommend this inn to anyone, go stay there and enjoy the great city of San Diego!

This was a nice motel. We wanted a place near the Cruise ship terminal and the airport and the Marina Inn was between those two points. Unfortunately the combination of the Pacific Highway (a main thoroufare) and active railroad tracks less than a block from the back of the hotel made for a noisy night. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The continental breakfast was available at the front desk, (coffee, juice danish and hard boiled eggs), but you had to take them back to the room. The people behind the desk were very helpful and knowledgable and the marina inn offered a very reasonable rate to "park and sail."

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like you really can't get away from the noise of the traffic and train if you want to stay in downtown San Diego. Not the hotel's fault, but just something to keep in mind when deciding where to stay. I'm not sure if it was just our room, but the water heater was excessively loud when the shower was on an the wireless internet was very slow, and sometimes didn't even work at all. But you can't beat the price for a clean, comfortable place to sleep and a great location.
