“A huge THANK YOU!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

First I want to thank the staff at the Doubletree Downtown. On my second day in San Diego I lost my wedding ring and became hysterical. The housekeeper Ana found it and turned it in to lost and found. I am eternally grateful!!

My room had a great view of the downtown skyline. The room was quiet and yet you could see the huslte and bustle going on down on the streets.

Im a very picky when it come to fitness centers in hotel rooms and this particular hotel had Precor weights and thats a huge plus for a fitness enthusiast like me.

The breakfast buffet was excellent and service with a smile in the morning goes a long way.
Roy at the front desk was helpful as usual (ive stayed here twice in the past).

Dining in Downtown (Gaslamp District) has become too crowded so I ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and was pleased with their new menu.

“Reasonably priced downtown hotel slightly off the beaten path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

This hotel is a bit far away from the convention center and Gaslamp District, but it typically makes up for it with reasonable rates. There are always a couple of taxis outside and all of the downtown sites can be reached for less than $8. The hotel is also within walking distance of Little Italy where some very nice (and less crowded) restaurants can be found. The rooms are what you'd expect of a Doubletree (spacious, comfortable, well appointed) but the wireless Internet bandwidth is woefully inadequate. There is some noise in the south facing rooms from the train tracks at Kettner Blvd, but it is infrequent. On the north side, planes flying into the airport fly by at eye level. The noise from this is negligible.

“Warm cookie takes the biscuit..tough parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

At check-in they give you a warm cookie...wonderful idea. It was a decent room, with a balcony so you could watch the traffic coming into town. While close to the airport, I never heard a plane. I'd have preferred to be closer to downtown as my choice of food wasn't too good, especially after a long day where I didn't want to travel too far.
The pool area didn't contain towels so I wasn't quite sure what was happening and with no one on duty at 7:30 on Friday night, there wasn't too much options. Pool area looked abandoned.
Shower was good, and the bed was comfortable.
Parking was tight...very tight. I was driving an over sized rental (Durango) and negotiation of the narrow passages made for a slow ride.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the pool...I am sure it can get noisy

“Staff goes above and beyond”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The company I work for has used the downtown DT for 2 years loyally. The sales staff is extremely friendly, helpful and professional, plus they work with all the fun things that we throw at them (Joanie/Amy/Niki are their best catchers, fyi). We get a great rate, the service is excellent and our clients are always eager to return to this downtown location, as well as snag some of their awesome fresh baked cookies from the front desk. We have referred other colleagues to them and are happy with the level of service we receive.

Room Tip: Talk to Niki or Joanie, in the sales department.

“Nice Hotel; Convenient Location”

This hotel was perfect for the weekend getaway that I planned. In a convenient area - close to downtown, water front and I5 for traveling by car. The rooms were very nice, and as we were on the 14th floor, they offered a fantastic view of the water and city. Each room has a balcony, which was really nice in the mornings and evenings! Rooms were very clean and well appointed. Quite, and roomy. Only complaint about room was that the tub water, from shower, would not drain very fast. Otherwise, no problems at all.
Be aware of the parking and cost - not bad for a large city hotel, but the parking deck in very tight and can be a little tricky to navigate in and out of. Also fills up very quickly on Saturday nights.
Overall great hotel and i would recommend to anyone staying in the San Diego Area.

Room Tip: Request high floor with view of the water...well worth it! Also, be aware that the GasLamp District...
