“LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

What else can you ask for in San Diego. Right on the Bay that gives you a great view of the ocean, the ships docked on the bay, a great sun rise and a greater sun set.

The food is great. I attended a conference at the hotel and the arrangements were great. The staff was completely involved in everything. The place serves an amazing fish n chips. For an average Indian the room service Breakfast can be a really big one.

The hotel has no laundry service so you walk down the aisle and locate the washer and dryer and help yourself.

A morning jog by the bay is what you will get addicted to and its great to do that early in the morning.

The hotel rooms might not be the best if you have stayed in some of the Asian/Indian 5 star hotels but great from the American point of view

Room Tip: Look out for Rooms facing the bay/harbor side

We are truly pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Just to clarify, we do have laundry service. There are laundry bags and forms in the closets of all rooms. Simply call our housekeeping department for pick-up.

“Nice hotel in just the right place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This hotel is overlooking the harbour of San Diego and is convenient to the trolley, seaport village, maritime museum(right across the street, USS Midway. Shuttle is convenient to airport and other sights in San Diego.

Room Tip: paid extra to get balcony overlooking bay...not sure I would do that again but it was nice

Thank you for nice review. We do welcome suggestions on how we could have improved your experience. This will assist us in efficiently exceeding the expectations of our future guests. On your next visit you definitely have to try one of the great restaurants in Little Italy which is a couple of blocks away, as well as the restaurants on property which include Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant, and Hazelwood's Bayside Deli.

Great location, very good shuttle service. Clean rooms but worn. Would stay here again anytime and would recommend to friends because of the location to many of the local attractions. Also close to trolley and bus lines and the ferry.

Room Tip: Great location,

Another 5 of 5. Outstanding! Our staff will still want to know how they could have achieved a 5 of 5 in service. Please keep posting any tips and suggestions that will help us polish our service delivery.

“Overall an Ok Hotel, but feel like I was racially profiled!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Im upset that I made this reservation a long time ago, called the service desk and they kept trying to transfer me to someone else instead of helping me. Now that I have checked in I had reserved a water side view room, and because I am a Priority Club member, asked that I be accomodated in a high room for the total bay view.. I paid the money! Well, I checked in and they sent me to a 4th floor room that had the worst view in the hotel, totally obstructed by trees! Wtf? Good job Holiday Inn on treating your Club members so well. If I had been a 6'2" whiteman who was well dressed and flashed a platinum card, I would have had the Royal treatment. I don't like to use the racial card, but you can feel it when someone gives you bad vibes.

I complained and was moved to the 11th floor which was more to my liking.. The property is otherwise nice, and the rooms are ok. Location is paramount..

Room Tip: Always question the decisionmaking at the front desk!

We are sorry that you feel you were discriminated against. Our staff consists of multiple nationalities and prides themselves on embracing cultural differences. We have a wide variety of guests and enjoy the opportunities to serve their individual needs. Our Priority Club members are pre-assigned the morning of arrival and into the best rooms available. February has been a very busy month with cruise ships and conventions, and our sunny weather has drawn in a great deal of leisure travelers. With February being a high occupancy month it is very possible your initial room was the best available at your time of arrival.

“Great location, poorly maintained”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed at this hotel to see if it would work if we decided to take a cruise next year. After reading other reviews, most of the negative comments were confirmed. We had a nice bay side view on the South Tower. Big complaint -there was no hot water ( not even enough to have anything but a cold shower). One elevator was not working - which was ok since there were not many patrons the night that we stayed. Since the hotel was old the walls are thin and the airport was very noisy. This isnt the hotel's fault but the front street was ripped up for major construction and they were jackhammering and running equipment from the morning until 5 pm. This hotel will work if you want to be as close as possible to the cruise ship terminal - you can easily drag your suitcases across to the terminal. Dont stay on the bay side stay on the city side, the bad view will pay off as it will be less noisy. The staff was nice, friendly and quick. The restaurants in the hotel seemed nice but there was no breakfast. Nor was there a fridge in the room. Given the above issues I do not know why the Holiday Inn does not start upgrading this hotel as it has the potential to be a winner. At least provide fridges and a free breakfast.

Room Tip: Stay high and away from the elevators and on the city side. Still not a bad place to stay for the ni...

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The hot water issue has been resolved. Breakfast is served from room service, the Elephant and Castle restaurant, and Hazelwood's bayside deli. We also have the On the Bay cafe serving continental take-out breakfast. Our Elevators are under renovation and near completion. Unfortunately we can not control the construction during the embarcadero beautification project but we have reached out to them to have a later start in the morning. We hope to have you back as our guest to experience these improvements.
