Typical Embassy Suites. Outdoor jacuzzi; indoor pool. Reasonably nice gym. Must pay for internet access in room; free internet is available downstairs but it can get very busy. You can eat outdoors as well. Staff was great.

What really makes it nice is the location. Right next to P.K. Changs, across the street from a mall (that has a 24hr fitness). Lots of restaurants of many price ranges in the vicinity (short driving distances).

If you are a cyclist there are lots of places to ride, but you have to be comfortable with big roads. And some roads are pretty bad.

We stayed for 4 nights and this hotel was great. I have a 6 and 2 year old and we stayed in the King room with pull out. Suprisingly, the pull out was comfortable, as pull outs can go. There was ample room for all of us. The fridge and microwave were great to have. They also had a wet bar outside the bathroom, great for cleaning kids snack containers and juice cups. The staff is extremely friendly, did not meet one unhappy member. The check in was great and the service throughout was fantastic.

The breakfast was awesome, so much choice and food. But a word to my fellow travelers, please keep in mind than when you show up 15 minutes before the end of food service, there will not be alot left, do not get nasty with the staff they are doing there best to serve hundreds. Perhaps setting your alarm a little earlier would be helpful to ensure you get your first choice for breakfast. As it is they have made to order eggs, sausage, pancakes, cereals, pastries, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee, bacon, there is no way you can leave hungry!!!

As for parking it is $19 a day, but we were there for four nights and always found street parking for free, in the height of tourist season when the hotel was full.

The complimentary cocktail hour is very nice, they have pretzels, chips and taco chips and salsa, also full bar service, hard alcohol as well as beer and wine.

The hotel itself is very clean, the koi pond is awesome, my kids loved it as did others.

There are however, two negatives that I must point out, first, the air conditioner in the rooms is so loud, it sounds as if a plane engine is in your room as it starts up every 20 minutes. If you wake in the middle of the night and it is on you will never fall back to sleep. My recommendation, is to turn the fan off before you fall asleep and turn it back on once you are awake.

The other negative is the pool, it is very chorinated I suspect it seems so strong because it is indoors. It would have been nice to have sliding doors to the outside so that so fresh air can come in, his way you won't smell so bad.

Other than that I would highly recommend this hotel. It is directly across the street from an outdoor mall that takes 2 minutes to walk too, that has a food court and Sears, Macy's Nordstroms as well as other shops.

We enjoyed our stay at the Embassy Suites due to the cleanliness and kid friendly enviroment. The staff was very friendly and kind enough to ship my UPS package off for me without any cost at all. Room service was friendly and fast. P.F Changs is right across the street for you to grab a nice bite with friends and family. If you just so happen to forget an item of clothing, like I did, the mall is right across the street for you to pick up some quick threads. We stayed here to attend Sea World and would enjoy booking this hotel again!

I had considered staying at the Hyatt La Jolla but was glad that I stayed at the Embassy Suites (La Jolla). The rooms are typical Embassy Suite rooms, one living room with a flat screen LG television, a desk for your laptop computer and a couch with a pull out sofa. There is also a small bar with sink, a microwave and a refrigerator. The bedroom had a tube television (pretty good size and picture) and a nice king size bed. There are free washers/dryers if you need to wash your clothes. The complimentary breakfast was excellent (cooked to order omlettes, eggs, sausages, bacon, variety of toasts and pastries, oatmeal, fruits, dry cereal with milk and a variety of juices). The breakfast is from 6:00 am to 9:00 am but it's best to go early and avoid the crowd (it never really got too busy). They also have a FREE cocktail hour from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm where they serve free alcohol and mixed drinks. The parking lot isn't too big and they charge $19 a day. There is a pretty good mall right across the street and a P.F. Chang's restaurant right outside the lobby. The location is good (a minute away from the 805 and a few minutes away from the I-5). You can't go wrong if you're staying in La Jolla!!
